Gnomes Cup – Getting the Youngsters started!

Oct 20, 2010
by Tomasz Profic
Recently the first Gnomes Cup was organized in Poland and they had riders ranging in age from 5 to 13 all come together for an introduction to DH riding/racing. It was great to see more events like this and the 661 Mini DH's in the UK popping up.

Read on,The kids were split into 3 age groups and the youngest were paired up with their parents so that they wouldn't get lost in the woods.

The Gnome Cup proved that there is material to sculpt, and that it is worth devoting time and energy to those younger riders zealous for extreme adventure from an early age, at the same time free of big mouths and ‘race promotion’ by jumping on an already plastered with thousands of stickers bikes. And since everyone here was a winner, overcoming their own fears, everyone received the Gnomes Trophy Cup and a taste of the bubbly Picolo.

Thanks to our sponsors, events fittings were provided by Klaudek deKalwaria (author of the logo) and Team Wypior mother Joanna, in spite of wringing her hands and crying, because mothers always cry, prepared The Gnomes Trophy Cups, certificates, etc. The spiritual, intellectual and events supporter, was, the ever ready to serve, Jacek Słonik Kaczmarczyk. Whereas, all financial costs were covered by the parents, who seem to be no less crazy than their kids. The parents also took upon themselves the difficult role of being judges. With no bloodshed, though not without resistance, were the winners chosen and all principles of fair play were maintained on the battle field. An illustration of this was when 5-year-old Marta maRACH from Wypior-ton Team asked if she had the best time, and I answered in Solomon’s wisdom, "it yet remains to be seen", she replied, "but you are the judge and you are my dad..."

As one can see, they grow up so fast. It won’t be too long before they start stomping on the heel of the cadets and juniors. One hopes...
