PRESS RELEASE: GlemmRide Bike Festival
Only four weeks left until the elite of slopestylers meet again in Saalbach Hinterglemm. The FMB Gold Contest at the GlemmRide Bike Festival has achieved international prestige and attracts the world's best athletes and 15,000 spectators to the SalzburgerLand from 03 - 07 July.
With this Rider Line Up, you can be sure: The GlemmRide Slopestyle will be spectacular again! The athletes from all over Europe and even the USA will show their best tricks on this unique course in the middle of the Austrian Alps. Via Hip Jump, Boner Log and Dirt Jump with massive airtime, the course leads to the terrace and over the pool of the 5*s Hotel Alpine Palace directly into the Expo-Area of the festival. 15,000 visitors and around 100,000 live-stream spectators will be thrilled when last year's winner Torquato Testa from Italy defends his title against the current leader of the FMB World Ranking Nicholi Rogatkin from the USA. To name a few:
- Nicholi Rogatkin (USA)
, who switched from BMX to mountain biking in 2013, has dominated the slopestyle scene ever since. The FMB World Champion 2016 and 2nd of the FMB World Rankings 2017 and 2018 always has new tricks up his sleeve and is mixing up the field enormously. Nicholi is coming to Saalbach for the third time and will do everything to repeat his victory from 2015.
- Toquato Testa (ITA)
showed a flawless run at the GlemmRide Slopestyle Contest 2018 and landed at the top of the podium. It will be exciting to see what the Italian, well known for his Opposite Combos, will do to defend his title in Saalbach.
- Emil Johansson (SWE)
: The 19-year-old Swede attends a “Bike School” in his home country, which enables him to train several hours a day on his bike during school hours. When Emil appeared on the scene in 2016, everyone knew that he had a promising future ahead of him. But what happened in 2017 was more than amazing: With several podium places and top results at all FMB Diamond events, as well as an outstanding 2nd place at the legendary Red Bull District Ride, Emil deservedly won the title of FMB World Champion. After an injury-related break in 2018 and currently ranked third in the world rankings, Johansson is coming to Saalbach for the first time and will certainly not make it easy for his competitors.
- Erik Fedko (GER):
Whether dirt jump, slopestyle or even motocross - since his father welded his first bike for him in 2008, the 21-year-old German is unstoppable. Erik already won the FMB Amateur Cup and celebrated his breakthrough in 2017, when he finished 5th at the Red Bull District Ride in front of 80,000 spectators and in 2018 was 3rd at the Red Bull Joyride in Whistler.
