 Mark Matthews vid just looks like it is sped up! how is he moving that quick!

 @Crazytommy666: Make sure you sub to his channel. All his vids are like that.
  • 1 0
 @Crazytommy666: gimbal, lower frame rate and probably ND filter on the lens of the gopro, creates more perception of speed via motion blur.

 Is it just me or does this contest really only benefit pro riders who are already partially supported or given equipment free by GoPro? I know they need to make money just like anyone else and these vids are insane, but can't help but think this is not really a fair contest for the masses at all. There were some sick non-pro submissions in here (like Bryce or Jacob) but again it just makes me feel like they were thrown in there to not raise questions when ultimately a top pro wins.

 All you really need is a GoPro - I don't think that's an insurmountable barrier to entry. And since all the footage needs to be submitted raw and unedited, you don't even need fancy software. Good trails help, though, and maybe some hot air balloons.

 Dangerous Dan won it last year. No conspiracy here as far as I'm concerned.

 I'll never understand why people have an issue with pros winning stuff like this, or the POY contest. Like a very high skill level of riding/filming is needed to win these things, so it makes sense that pros with those skills have a better chance of winning? Personally I would love to see an amateur class added to this contest, but for the time being, I'll vote for the sickest line, regardless of who submits it.

 @mikekazimer: Love watching these, and definitely think Mark/Remy crushed their lines and deserved to win.
That being said, isn't this still just a popularity contest? The pros or anyone with a following will just post their lines on instagram/youtube or wherever and link everyone to come vote for them.

 @kanasasa: Not Dangerous Dan.

 @mikekazimer:

Surfline has a regional “Wave of the Winter” contest (NorCal, SoCal, East Coast, Hawaii, Australia, etc.). No $ but the zoning makes it relatable cause you might actually know the folks in your own zone.

God help you though... I think there’s a few more bikes than surfboards Smile

 It is true every year a pro always wins pinkbike does not do this contest for everyone it does it only for pro riders, I clarify they are the best and we admire them but they never take into account amateurs that we are the majority of pinkbike followers
  • 1 2
 @mikekazimer: We all know that mike, but it is a reality that pinkbike does not take into account the amateurs when it comes to awarding awards and it is understandable since pinkbike should not lose its good relationship with gopro when we have made gopro rich who we buy and not pro , you are from pinkbike it is normal for you to give your point of view and keep in mind that not all of us have amazing trails or balloons, but if we really want to ride and we have a gopro that we pay for
  • 2 1
 @N-60: Personally, I have nothing against pro, I admire them, but it is a reality that an amateur will never beat a pro and the contest is poorly focused, if pinkbike wants to do things well with its followers, it must create two categories, pro and amateur and that would be just the contest

 @joewoywitka: haha, it was Dave!! That's what happens when you comment before 1st beer. All clear now
  • 15 0
 @asbiker: while the contest is frequently won by pro riders, I won last year and I'm not a pro. Unless working full time at the hospital, spending time with my infant son and riding once a week is considered being pro these days :p
  • 1 0
 @dangerousdave: thats one upping pro category \m/
  • 1 0
 @dangerousdave: Pro as hell fellow hard working dad!
  • 1 0
 @dangerousdave I’ve been following your Instagram account since you won last year and can say without batting an eye that you ride at a pro level.
  • 2 0
 @N-60: I agree. People don't have any problems with pros winning RedBull Rampage or the Crankworx Slopestyle. Anyone who's good enough have a chance to get in there and compete for the top, you don't need to be a pro. Sure if your're good enough to get at the top of these events, you're probably good enough to Go Pro if you're not already so. Wink But it is not strictly needed as such.

 @Ramenoodlez111: Good point, but I ended up voting for someone I didn't see on Insta. I thought I was gonna vote for Remy who rode probably the most insane line, but ultimately I went for wild line combined with beautiful light/scenery. It was a toss-up between Antoni and Kilian for me, but selected Antoni for the crazy ridge.

Either way, all of these entries are worthy of the win. They are all highly skilled riders in awesome locales!

 @dangerousdave: dave, I have nothing against pro, I admire them but my criticism is for pinkbike, your level is high and that is admirable but many amateurs also do good things and pinkbike does not take that into account, the contest said that a 50 % in creativity and what more creative than Iciar's video? the other videos are excellent but even the parameters are wrong

 @Andrew9696: true ????
  • 23 1
 Are these the official results or is someone sending out their lawyers for a recount?

 seems like a worthy podium, and all the clips were amazing.
everyone complaining about Remy's video being too shaky...that's because he's riding one of the burliest lines in the world. what do you expect??
  • 8 0
 Stoked to have made a line like that haha!! Wooo!
  • 5 1
 Congrats to Remy. It certainly deserved a podium, but I was afraid that gopro could not do justice to this line. Great to see that people actually took this into acvount.

 Congrats to you Mark! Such a creative mind when it comes to trail building. Your one hell of a rider and the way you present yourself sounds like your a great dude too. Cheers to others too! Remy is such a badA$$ rider as well

 That balloon shoot is how I want to leave the world. All 100% goodness. Exquisite footage.

 Congrats to the winner. 7000 $ for first and only 500 $ for 3rd? thats a little bid unfair in my opinion.

I would go this way. Make a prizepool of 10000 $ count every vote and than distribute proportionally
  • 3 0
 The panic, I've felt it!! Nice one Mark! Congrats!

 His edits are always great. I really felt my hands on the brakes watching watching this one. Killer riding, but Marks amazed me. I got a chuckle at the pavement start just to get speed.
