PRESS RELEASE: COMMENCAL / 100%

The COMMENCAL / 100% team is ready to kick off the new year with a fresh face - we're excited to announce that Greg Williamson has been added to the 2020 roster! Williamson had a fantastic 2019 season with consistent Top 20 results and was finally able to crack the Top 10 in the final round at Snowshoe with a 7th place. He will be a great addition of experience to the team, joining Hugo Frixtalon and Thomas Estaque. We wish him all the best for this coming season and are excited for what this team can achieve this year.

"I’m very excited to join the Commencal / 100% team in 2020! The team is stacked with a great bunch of people who know how to race fast and also have a good time in the process. I’m currently out in New Zealand putting lots of time in on the new bike, which has been amazing so far."

"So keen to start another year with the COMMENCAL / 100% team! Some new goals, new project, new team mate. I'm working to be more consistent on my physical skills this winter and I hope this will pay off step by step."

"I feel my team is growing each year and I’m excited to evolve with this crew around me. I consider the arrival of Greg as an opportunity due to his bigger experience. My off-season is going pretty well, I’m in a good pace between my goals and my physical preparation. Can’t wait to hit the race tracks, ready to shred, to fight and to send it!"

"I feel this trio can shine on any Sunday with consistency and an amazing style. Greg and Thomas are used to World Cups Top 10 for the last 4 years while Hugo’s progression never stops to grow. We’re also pleased to add Fizik (saddles) and RaceFace (cockpits) as new sponsors."

 Frix Frix = most stylish dude on the WC circuit...prove me wrong.

 Frix Frix & Kade Edwards. Equally as steezy.

 @skidmarkbro: We're talking Elites here...not below 60 (sorry Kade)

 @MikeyMT: I think you have him confused with Kaos Seagrave bud...

 Is that the point, or is it the fastest time to the bottom of the track?
I can appreciate a smooth style where it doesn't look so fast, but the numbers are green...
But style without speed is missing the point for a race against the clock.
Bruni is pretty damn stylish, IMHO anyway.
He broke the top 15 once last year. MAybe that changes this year and I'll eat my words.

 @TheSlayer99: My bad...correct.

 @ReformedRoadie: Totally agree with you. The last "stylish" rider (in this sense) to be a good World Cup Racer was Ratboy. Easily top 10 every race, and steazy af. Yeah Minnaar can throw a backflip when he wants to, but when he's racing he keeps it pinned. Not taking away from Frix's, Kade's, or Kaos's riding, because it's amazing, but I always wonder if they would have better results if they calmed down a bit and rode more like Bruni. Then again, if that's not what they're into, then who am I to judge?

 @MikeyMT: Occasionally yes. Mitch did Fort Williams and I think Leogang as well in 2019

 Unfortunately, styling it up also means riding within limits of control.... all the top fastest and most winning riders are having to push past their limit of control, into the 'hang on and hope I make it' zone at least a few times every race run, Greg Minaar confirmed this in an interview a while back, saying it's the only way you can win a wc nowadays, to ride beyond control at points. So unfortunately, the super stylish riders would have to lose the flair to start winning...

 @trumbullhucker55: Yeah! No one trumps Blenki!

 Tomas Estaque is more stylish than Frix, and has the speed to go with it too. Proven wrong!

 good luck Greg.hope those regular top tens are on the horizon for you and the rest of the team.

 @Jrtf Well said sir! Greg was pinning it last year, he's earned a decent crack at things.

 What a team of absolute talent, although all slight underdogs each has the potential to top 10 regularly. Also didn't know Pich ran this team, loved his section with Nico Vink in an Earthed 3 - we ride how we ride.

 Shame that UNNO didn't stick around to improve their bike, he'll have good results with this set up.

 Ever come off an FSR bike racing DH to a single pivot? It's not an easy transition...high pulley or no.
  • 3 1
 @blowmyfuse: the unno was a dual link not an FSR.
  • 1 0
 @SonofBovril: oops. yeah so even more difficult. Smile

 @blowmyfuse: It's not an easy transition...it's a Commencal.
  • 2 0
 @blowmyfuse: I race a V10 (26er) and tried a Commencal a few weeks ago, it was very easy to ride and go pretty quick on first run. Getting as close as the last bike I tested (V10 27.5 which I had for over a month and setup for me) in 2 runs and the Commencal was over sprung for me and I didn't get its rebound set fast enough either!
Now, I dont have the skills of Greg, so I am sure that he will make it work (plus I am pretty sure he might have had a wee shot of Kentas at some point). The Commencal seems to be a "fast bike". How it compares to the Unno we will find out shortly.
The Commencal was good enough that I considered buying one (then I remembered I am tight and for 4 or 5 races a year its not really worth it as I am too old and slow anyway)
