The Hanover Freeride club has begun to put some good tread beneath itself on the Hanover MTB park.
Some of the eroded sections are being removed and the first feature has been constructed. Our first weeks under production have been going very well. We started out by rerouting the trail entrance. The entrance was in a horrible state as it had been heavily used by riders and never maintained. There was an old, wrecked boardwalk which had to be removed and ruts and holes everywhere, this section was un-salvageable so we've rerouted the trail in elsewhere.
After a day of slugging through rough brush and shrubs we have completed a much nicer entrance to the trail, about 50 yards away, thus making the trail longer.
We've also completed another section of trail bringing us to a nice grassy clearing.
Once we had cleared our way into the clearing we decided it would be a nice place for our first feature, a small beginner level table top, we decided to make it ladder style. After a good afternoon of slaving we had some good progress and a sturdy little jump to ride.
Be advised that the park is not open yet and anyone caught riding will likely be charged with trespassing, the feature is taped off right now to avoid usage, the first trail, features and all should be open within the next few weeks.
All in all, the trails are coming along nicely, any volunteers that want to help on our park would be appreciated just drop us
a message on Pinkbike or call the Hanover Parks and Rec office at (519) 364 2310, and we'll keep the progress coming!
