Helmet Cam: Ratboy's Cairns Race Run

 He freaking wants it! He's got the guns out and shooting hard.

 I thought the same thing. Barely even noticed the rollers from this vid. Did he clear almost the whole section without touching the ground? The camera barely bounced.

 The silly thing is the brakes weren't reversed, uk and Australia run brakes on the same sides. he just dropped the front wheel in the first dip.

 yeah its in asia where they run brakes reverse on oem bikes. hahaha. it's because so many folks ride scooter and motorbikes there.

 Front brake on the right and rear on the left is normal in the Uk and as far as I'm aware in Australia too.

 apparently Brayton runs them backwards, just to be different I guess!

Shows clearly he runs it standard for the Uk.

 I'm pretty sure that actually physically impossible without violation the laws of space and time...

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think that they run the finals in 3 minute gaps. So with this track being about 4 minutes long, if you showed all of the first run, the next guy would already be a minute into his run by the time the first guy crossed the finish line.

But I also 100% agree they could/should have better camera setups for the live feed. I know it was a jungle, but that is not an acceptable excuse for not having a cameraman on the whoops. And on the subject of whoops, I really think every world cup DH course should have a set!

 Yeah, I guess it's not really practical to have the gaps any longer than that, maybe only for the top ten or something

 It could easily just be one of the feeds, that the director can cut to from time to time, instead of endless slow mo replays and 30 second pedalling sections.... GoPro can chuck a wireless HD video feed a few dozen metres on its own, could do much better with a little booster.

 I was in Cairns for the race. They were running every one 30 sec's apart until they hit the top 20. Then after that they didn’t release the next rider until the last one finished. Since red bull like showing riders cooling down they only have enough time to show half the run

 I think UCI just changed the rule for MTB DH this season.

 They are permitted depending on use (see section 4.3.014 of the document below)

 Ahh for the tv production company! Well that would explain why he was using a gopro instead of his usual drift hd

 I think its safe to say that somewhere along the line a lump of cash was handed from one party to another..........

 Lumps of cash keep the world cups going, so I'm all for it; as long as they play by the rules

 With GoPro sponsorship stuff all over the track of course they are gonna start allowing it!
