They say that the Huldufólk are little people who live in the rocks and the waters. Sometimes they are referred to simply as elves, but Huldufólk is the original term, and the Icelandic government will even consider the potential whereabouts of the Huldufólk when reviewing new building permits. Currently, 8-percent of the Icelandic population believes in the elves, while 54-percent don't deny the possibility of their existence.

Learning about this folklore meant only one thing: if we did indeed find trails in Iceland, we might find these little people as well. Or would we?

The Icelandic climate consists of mild winters and mild summers. The atmosphere among residents is also very mild, and the island very much has a "chilled out" island vibe going, similar to New Zealand. Warmth and friendliness were equally as abundant as the dark green moss.

Wind and grass, two things Iceland has in good surplus.

All rides begin with a full hydration pack. And when filling that pack, be sure to be upstream of the sheep!

Even far from the skinny ladder bridges of his hometown in the Pacific Northwest of the USA, Jeff still managed to jump onto the skinniest thing in sight.

Exploring the local sandstone is almost like riding a skatepark built for rubber tires with knobbies.

Mother nature did not intend for this to be a jump.

Floating along a rare section of packed clay, above a series of geothermals filled with bathing tourists.

If you're only going to have one trick, be sure it's one you can do anywhere.

I am usually a pretty happy guy, but my resting bitch face is very strong. I think if I had this guy's steeze I would have that grin on my face all the time too.

So cool. Kendall is a great example that downhill is not always about just brute speed. Riding downhill with style and hitting natural features is fun as well.

Great video of our local trails. The elf bit is bullshit though, I mean honestly, who believes in elf's? Except Will Ferrel.

Jeff is my favorite rides. Ibis style is so big, yet so playful. The new HD4 is an incredible bike. I couldn't believe how playful it was for how serious it can charge. My goal is to be able to ride half this good one day.

Wow. Spellchecker got me again. Jeff is my favorite rider. His style is so playful, but he still goes huge. My goal is to be able to ride half as well as him one day Also, the new HD4 he is such a fun bike. I was really surprised with how playful it felt, yet still capable enough to charge gnarly stuff. Such a fun bike. It may be my next bike...

Hmmm..., 2:19 schetchy almost OTB moment. So curious why he is not wearing a fullface for the type of riding he is doing.
Other than that he almost sold me that Ibis..... Amazing pop and playfull bike as it seems. I'm sure it's the bike and has nothing to do with his skills ....

Was it played by his wife or a relative, or is the name just a coincidence? It matched the film and his playful and energetic riding perfectly.

@Metacomet: Thanks!!! My sister composed and played that, and my dad recorded it. Everyone in the family is a professional musician, I'm the oddball who never took to music.
  • 2 0
@JeffWeed: That's fantastic! Maybe you didn't take to music but it looks like you've got the same rhythm :-)
Very special to be able to have your family be a part of what you do. Really enjoyed the video. Cheers!
