Would love to see a pre race and race POV to see how much it changes after getting used up. Line choice changes all the time.

Great suggestion! We can aim to add this into future Inside the Tape episodes.

If it looks steep on video, its STEEP AF

Absolutely love this. I hope they plan to do it for every race

We’ll have Cathro doing the full World Cup DH season for us (and Worlds too), and we’ll have a rotating cast doing every Crankworx DH and slopestyle as well. Smile

the movie District 9 has taken away my ability to focus on what Needles is saying

Looking forward to the race footage where they ignore all the best sections of track again.

One of the best DH analisis videos i've ever saw. You can apreciate what a DH race is all about.

Does it make anyone else nervous that he’s standing inside the tape?
  • 7 2
It would make me nervous if you were standing inside the tape. Andrew, I feel okay about.

It's ok he's now part of the media...... they can go where they like!

This is not the "Inside The Tape" this is the "Friday Fails"

I hate it when they delete your comments. What I was suggesting is that Tippie is a legend, and still throws down.
  • 1 0
Check out below threshold comments, you have one in there under a thread about Tippie. Those comments don't show up when searching on the page. If you have some other comment that is missing, then I have no idea ha

Your comment didn't get deleted, it was just hidden because it was in reply to a comment that was below the -4 threshold. Smile

The loss of Loic's pond is a tragedy! F

Those jumps at the end... dang. They big.

where is the rider list for the downhill?

 Bring back Tippie!!!
  • 17 16
 Please don’t.
  • 40 5
We all love Tippie, but I must say. A little more insight and a little less "Braaaaaapppp" ain't always a bad thing.

Tippie has a place, he brings the stoke. That gets tiring though on a 20minute video, Andrew was perfect to host this.
  • 17 4
ohh man I think Tippie's awesome!! He does indeed bring the stoke!

"So there's this section that's not taped very well, and there's this bitchin super exposed vertical spine. If I were racing, I'd just send it down that. Saves at least 30 seconds" -Tippie

Thx for the props! Always enjoy doing "Inside the Tape", ever since I did the first one at an EWS at Whistler a few years ago, to bring the Pinkbike tribe some track insights, behind the scenes action with a bit of fun too (and previously "Just the Tip" course previews at events since 2010 Worlds at MSA. Doing that course walk with Stevie Smith sharing his lines with the Vanderham brothers and I (and you guys) is one of my favourite working memories...and then Stevie executed those lines and got 2nd behind Sam Hill!!)
It is good to mix it up, with awesome riders like Needles, to have some fresh insights and I love watching them. I'll be back! Here's a fun one from last year at CWX Rotorua DH...

@bretttippie: Thanks for the fun Tippie! Theres is defnitely enough room for serious analysis as well as Tippie fun at all these world class events. I love Tippie making his way down the course chatting up the racers. That's a completely different piece. Needles is more of a "let's pretend you are good enough to race this for a couple of minutes" while Tippie is a "let's see what these lunatics are thinking".

That guy may have competed for 14 years, but my amp goes to 11.

The sport progresses so fast that even a couple of years out you become irrelevant!
