Knolly Bikes is proud to announce a partnership with Big Mountain rider, James Doerfling that will see him aboard their frames as he looks for new lines in the most remote zones.

“Knolly Bikes is proud to announce a partnership with James Doerfling. The Big Mountain Rider has spent the last 5 seasons discovering epic lines and pushing his limits searching for first descents in remote terrain around the world for various film and editorial projects.

His approach to charging big terrain defines his character and his quest for new lines continually yields exciting footage. We feel proud to have someone like James aboard a Knolly and look forward to the adventure.”

"As the Knolly photographer, I am stoked to have James Doerfling on the Knolly team in 2011. I had a chance to briefly work with him last year in his hometown of Williams Lake BC, and was blown away by his riding ability, his style, and the fact that I couldn't take a bad photo of him. So when he showed up in Vancouver recently for his first official shoot as a Knolly rider (James' first appearance for Knolly was at this years' Red Bull Rampage), I couldn't have been happier. Welcome to the team Bro!"

James Doerfling is a badass! Wicked style, big balls, and a friendly BC interior kid who sends it! Way to go Knolly!
(Margus Riga is the new Blake Jorgenson...and just got an invite into the Crankworx Deep Summer Photo Challenge. Killer.)

James has a great style and flow, and Knolly bikes seem super stout!! Can't wait to see that lateral rigidity of the 4x4 tested out!!

their bikes are freakishly stiff - you'll bend your rear wheel before you'll get any lateral play in the linkage!

I want one, but even a pro/bro deal is a LOT!! I need one though b/c too many whipped out landings have made my IH Sunday wiggle like a puppies butt!!

oh yeah, why do it simply, when it's possible to do it intricately... Still a 4pivot with more possibilities to break and more bearings to take care of. The leverage alteration is dear-bought, IMO
  • 2 0
so you are saying because a bike has a lot of bearings dont get it?
  • 4 0
not in general, I ride single pivot with BB on a linkage and you could say it is the same thing like this, but it's different. Single pivot's rear wheel moves on a circle trajectory, but the independent BB prevents the bike from swinging in the travel while pedaling, so having more bearings does make sense in this case. This is 4pivot and the, in my opinion unnecessary, linkage doesn't do anything except altering the leverage. But the chainstay could have been designed in different way so that there was no need to add another linkage to get the same or alike leverage. We can see similar solution on SX trail, but it's still a little simpler. You can say, that everyone that has the money for such bike has enough money to buy a pair of bearings and it's true. I am talking just about the design, which seems to me superfluously complicated... The look isn't my cup of coffee, but that is not what's going on. Smile

hahaha good points. And oneslty i dont really like the look of it so much. I like clean looking bikes thats why i am geting a demo 8.
  • 2 0
Demo 8 and clean looking bike aren't two things I personally would put together Razz The FSR linkage is far from clean - Still a nice bike though. Something clean has to be something simple looking with smooth lines and uniform tubing imo - Like the Sunn Radical.

well everyone has different opinions on what a clean looking bike is Smile
