Still hard to think about and I only met him a few times and rode a few runs. Can't imagine how his friends riding that day feel. This t-shirt idea is brilliant, I'll take 3 at least.
For what it's worth from a graphic designer the front would be perfect if the shirt itself had that turquoise fade with the ladder graphic on front. Then that great portrait of him on the back with ROUGHAF on top. Has to be colorful as every time I had the privilege of seeing him he had mega style gear on. His family decides where the proceeds go. Let's make this happen please.
Me too will love a shirt to remember Jordie and maybe raise founds for a good cause in hai memory. It would be a great and right tribute to him i believe.
@Buddler: Jared's work is always amazing, but that was produced at a different time. I feel Taj's illustration with it's simplicity lends itself better to the sentiment behind what the suggested shirt would be for
So if you look at the numbers interested and props I would say 500 shirts would sell out quick. Let's say $30 a shirt since it's very customized is $15000. From my experience with these type of projects getting the artist on board and management of proceeds and getting the shirts made can be challenging. Any way I can be of assistance, have been a graphic designer since 1993.
@2d-cutout: my sister in law makes shirt by the thousand and she outsources it with the artist signing off somewhere with good fabric and can get shirts made for less than $10 a piece. If @TajMihelich is on board I can get work on trying to make this happen.
Maybe proceeds, illustrations are hard to come off. How about we do this at cost no bs. Obviously a tonnage of people would love to remover a tough loss without red tape.
@ThePeanutGallery: I'm here anything I can do, it's tough I know. People worry about money, would he care if we lost money getting hundreds of people just a reminder to get out and go hardAF in the trails. Let's honor him in a very small way.
I like how the original comment has less likes than your comment has downvotes shows the true nature of people. People like to hate more than they like to love @thesharkman:
Normally I enjoy so much your comics, but today I love most your words when you say "My condolences to friends and family (and that includes all of us on bikes). Ride on." Even here in my small Ossola Valley lost in the Alps with other riders VB going hard uphill we spoke about Jordie. And everyone love him.
If is amazing how we can lose someone in our community & be impacted, even with few things that you may share in common. One thing is for sure the guy loved bikes & so do I! My condolences for friends & family.
Great work Taj. I never met Jordie, along with many other who were fans, and still loved him. I can only imagine the positive impact that he had on those who were lucky enough to enjoy his presence.
I remember the first time I saw a clip of the tree ride I thought “who the hell would look at a tree and think 'I can ride that’ and of course... Jordie”
The first picture is chilling! It can be used to any area of human love and effort, building your own obstacles to progress, again and again, to get higher upon the point when one world is no more sufficient for that being.
I posted this comment about 90 minutes ago. In PB's infinite censoring wisdom, they removed it. Here it is again. At the time it was removed it had 5 like and 6 dislikes. Sorry PB, people around the world are fighting and suffering for their right to free speech. It would cowardly not to call you on your BS

The art work is nice. But I gotta speak my mind here. That tree ride always represented the worst parts of mtb biking. The willingness to risk life altering injury or even death in the name of flogging bikes. I wish I'd said this last year but the mtb crowd was just cheering him on. I appreciate what it takes to ride something like that, but we as consumers of mtb media should have been urging Jordie to give his head a shake. My Condolences to his family and friends.
*******mxmtb posted this very fair comment **** Instead of a down vote here my friend I’m gonna just say this . Jordie , Steve and Kelly all pushed the limits of this sport . I had the pleasure of know Steve and Jordie for many years . These guys lived to push the limits , how do you think people become champions . Jordie did demolish this right after he rode it cause it was to dangerous . Every time you throw a leg over a bike or get in your car you risk injury or death . Some people die while crossing the street . These guys all died doing what they lived for . I’m sad my friends are gone , but I’ll always respect them and remember them for how the lived
Pinkbike didn’t remove your comment. If you get enough downvotes then your comment is hidden and can only be viewed by those who want to view upsetting or downvoted comments. Sometimes I scroll down just to see what upsetting things are being said. Sometimes they are deserving and sometimes it’s a little off but, for the most part I think it’s a fair system.
I think you have a valid point but in my opinion, there is a time and a place for such comments. In this case, Its not the right time. The artwork shows the artists respect and condolences for the family. Let’s pay our respects and take the soap box elsewhere. Just my opinion...
@mightyted: want to agree with you, but you're wrong. Just read anything Freud wrote about the "death drive." The reason we know the world is round is because of people like Jordie.
@mightyted: Except that: 1) Your assertion that you were censored was incorrect. 2) Your rant is out of sync with the actual circumstance of Jordie's passing. Neither of these are contributors to a "healthy coversation" in this thread. Go find the nearest Rampage thread if you want to talk smack about "death" while "flogging bikes".
@iammarkstewart: reading comprehension is a bit low around here so let me help you and everyone else out. I'm aware the circumstances of Jordies passing not being related to that tree ride. People posting on this thread suggested that a T-shirt with the tree ride art would be a good way to remember Jordie and raise funds. My comment was to point out that I felt that stunt was too dangerous and too extreme. More to the point, I would not but that T-shirt because I don't like what it represents. Commerce in mtb media. As far as my rant about being censored - you got me there. I all my time reading this site, I didn't realize that "Below Threshold post are hidden" was actually a link. Sorry about that everyone. Now you're all going to say that I'm an a##hole for choosing this time and place to make this comment and maybe I'd agree, but the right time and place never materializes on this site. I'm tired of keeping my mouth shut for the sake of not getting flamed.
I never met Jordie but in all his appearances he seems and energetic and charismatic ambassador of the sport. He will be missed. Just to be clear one more time, I thought the tree ride was too much, and if I were his friend I would have tried to talk him out of it.

@mxmtb: I'm not sure why you chose to Bring Steve and Kelly into this. I was only referring to a stunt that Jordie built that was too extreme. As a fan of mountain biking and someone who loves riding, the tree ride was unnecessary , even for selling YTs.
Count me in too..
Taj - always inspired. Thank you.

Ride in peace Jordie.
That's you. Pick up your game. Learn how the forum and "time and place" works.

And no, it would not make a good T-Shirt.
