Nz kicks ass for riding. Most videos seem to focus on the south island, but redwoods in rotorua is one of the best parks around, while makara peak and wainui trail project are 2 excellent parks in Wellington which has pleanty more trails. Would be well worth a profle article!

Not forget hawkes bay for riding ~ Eskdale forest with over 80km of single track BOOOM !

Agreed. There seems to be a heap of South Island videos on PB but hardly any showing the North Island areas.

*most videos focus on Queenstown* there's a whole range of sick riding all over the country! More riders need to come here to travel, seeing QT doesn't mean you've seen NZ

Glenno - good point, always forget the bay. Taranaki's got a park under way too!

@jcupit Heading to NZ in 1 week and you just helped me out heaps haha, Makara Peak looks awesome!! Heading from Auckland down south to Queenstown on a 12 day road trip!!

Will also be heading to Napier so @glenno cheers for the heads up, I've been to Napier and filmed before, never ridden. This is where I filmed, www.pinkbike.com/video/245623 I am going to go ahead and assume that's some where near the 80km of single trail as I've seen a few maps and there was a TON of riding near where I filmed.

This video is awesome. Not only does it make me want to visit NZ sooo much but I also felt it showed a more realistic riding trip. Not another bunch of pros going faster than I could ever go in a dream but just guys enjoying their bikes and the scenery, not wanting to set any Strava records. More please!

I remember my dad going to New Zealand on business 23 years ago, I was 9 years old. He spent half of it working and the other half fly fishing. At one point I was going to fly down for a bicycle tour, and now that I'm more into mountain biking and backpacking I definitely need to get down there before it's too late.

I jump on a plane today to Queenstown and fly out of Auckland, got one month, any absolute MUST HIT TRAILS? Also will be selling my Rocky mountain slayer at the end of trip...

Gotta love NZ. Been to Rotorua once and that was the best experience. Corners and Little Red Riding Huck are both boss trails. Can't wait to return.

 Sweet as bro!!

Nice filming, but the riding could have been alot more impressive, especially given the amount of talented riders in the Queenstown area?? Some pretty cringe-worthy riding

 Looks like BC!
  • 3 0
Yea, NZ is pretty much everything in BC just squashed into two islands!

I was in BC summer of 2012 and I felt like I was just in Big Zealand. Very similar, just Canada is more expansive, and has bears...

Jealous much ?? NZ terrain rules haha
  • 7 1
Maybe if you spent less time behind your computer and more on your bike you wouldn't complain so much
  • 3 1
Jealous? Yep. NZ has to be one of the most captivating places I've been. Always find it hard to leave.
I just meant it wasn't the raddest mountain bike video I've seen...but I had just watched the Ratboy ripping it up in Portugal just before so anything would look dull after that!!
