⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Since 2018, we’ve enjoyed racing, riding and trying to keep up with the energy of Kiwi shredder Keegan Wright. But the time has come to say farewell.

Looking back at moments like his first EWS podium, stellar performances at Crankworx and all the good times off the bike, there are a few stories we’ll be telling for years to come. We’re proud of all we accomplished together and wish Keegan the best of luck for the next chapter of his career.

Cheers and see you in the trails!
Devinci Global Racing

There’s no word yet on who Keegan will be riding for in 2022 and beyond but we’ll keep you updated with the news as we get it.

I’m hoping one day I read “pinkbike and outside part ways”

Just in case anyone is wondering, for the 15th consecutive year I have not signed with Santa Cruz bikes.
I am sponsored by my local deli (they sometimes give me free sandwiches) and my wife (who makes a lot more money than me).

Is it strictly a meat and cheese deal, or are you allowed dips and chutneys also?

So many people announcing they're leaving teams but no new team announcements - is everybody retiring? LOL

Hahaha idk why you're getting downvoted. Talented rider, however drinking and driving is really fucked.

…maybe just an end of month “parting ways” summary instead of the same article every other day.

I’m sure Keegan is on to another deal… but I can’t help but feel bad for the guy. Has been trying to get back home for weeks now and has repeatedly had flights cancelled out of BC. Posted that he’s looking for work for the winter season in Vancouver, now. Then his contract is over (though like I said, I know there will be a happy new contract announcement coming). But dang… felt like a lot of heavy stuff the guy was having to deal with.

Yeah nah! All kiwis knew the risk of leaving and the challenges with coming back. Some just had an arrogance to think they could get around the system. This is not one of the “she’ll be right” gauntlets to run. Organise ya shit homie.

@broscience: he had flights and a miq pass but his predeparture test was a weak positive so couldn't come back.
  • 2 0
@broscience: to know all challenges with coming back dude would’ve had to have been pondering his orb pretty hard I reckon.
  • 10 3
@broscience: couldn’t agree more. He’s also super lucky he even got into Canada with his DUI history.

Travelling around the world to ride a bicycle is possibly the weakest excuse. Lots of kiwis have been stuck abroad for much longer, unable to get back. For much more serious reasons. All of us would like to travel again, I’d love to get back to Canada. But it’s just not a feasible option.

@bonfire: I'd be wrapped to be stuck in BC for the winter in a La Nina year.

Break up seasons always difficult. Whiskey helps.

 @Johnsterfer shots fired!

 @Johnsterfer: yeeeow, good play.

Guys a chump.

@bonfire: turn it up. sentence was 15 months ago and what he did was stupid, but no more than any other young person learning from their mistakes. No need to continue labelling him.
  • 5 2
@coney: what sentence? Didn’t even get convicted of a DUI. Got a free pass because he’s some sort of c-list athlete and it would incumber his ability to travel the world. If he blew a whisker over, yeah maybe.

He wouldn’t be allowed into Canada if he was convicted as a DUI makes you criminally ineligible for entry. I thought even an arrest caused that, so I’m curious in general how he got in.

This wasn’t a sketchy tweet he made a decade ago.
  • 2 3
@bonfire: thought he got sentenced to 28 days loss of license and a fine; the result of pleading guilty to a conviction? 4x over the limit is definitely f*cked, but shouldn’t define someone’s life.

What’s the tweet?
  • 1 0
@bonfire: Canada is a joke when it comes to old charges. And they don't recognize expungement.
Kinda like China....
  • 1 0
@jrocksdh: You know what’s easier than chasing expungement? Not drinking and driving.
  • 2 0
@bonfire: yup. Just remember...lots of cases out there where one gets a dui for having a beer outside of a car with keys in it; or drunk in public if ur outside your fenceline Newport beach.
Not always so black and white.
  • 1 0
@jrocksdh: agreed man. Have had a friend or two get them for sleeping in their cars and having the keys in their possession “as they’re in care and control of the vehicle”. Unfortunately in this instance, he was caught driving the wrong way down the road, 4x the limit. Not so much an issue of nuance haha.
