Source: gnarbar/Kelowna Cycle Last year was so rad we’re doing it again! Back with a vengeance, supported by Kelowna Cycle and Kona, we bring you the K-Town Kamikaze Super-D.
More details inside,
Race Summary:
The K-Town Kamikaze Super-D event is designed to be a fun, participation type event that will bring riders of all ages, skill levels and user groups together in one setting. To emphasize the fun there'll be prizes for best fancy dress and other random acts of kindness and bro-ness. Please note that multi colored Troy Lee race suits DO NOT count as fancy dress. The goal of this event is to further community involvement in the active four season outdoor lifestyle that Kelowna is famous for, and promote tourism through our magnificent Central Okanagan trail resources. Come to Kelowna, race, ride, play, and stay. And there's always the chance you'll see a sasquatch.
Location:
Myra-Bellevue Provincial Park, Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. Event supported by BC Parks.
Date:
Sunday June 13th, 2010
Course:
Start at the Kettle Valley Railway, drop-in to Vapour trail, traverse on the Pink Highway to the Connector trail & finishes at the bottom parking lot area.
Race Format:
Individual racers will start at pre-determined start times with one minute intervals between racers. The runs will be timed and the winner in each category will be determined by the fastest time. There will be mens and ladies adult and youth categories with appropriate course routing for skill levels. The course is all natural and stunt-free, with no mandatory drops or gaps, and some optional small rock faces. The upper section is lush and treed, a little rooty, and twisty. Lower down it gets drier, dusty and rocky with some short, loose, but quite flat shale sections. This is a fun fast section. Around two thirds of the way down, there's two uphill climbs thrown in the mix to test your mettle, then another faster downhill section to finish with a real fun blast. Ideal for any skill level, you can ride this course as hard, or as mellow, as you feel.
First Aid and Safety:
We will have volunteers with appropriate training and equipment on course at multiple designated marshal stations with course marshals along the route. Communications will be via cell phone (there is coverage on the mountain). First aid will also be sweeping the course at the end of the day. Paramedics will be available on stand by in close proximity to the course.
Insurance and Race Entry Fees:
Covered under MTBco's insurance policy. All racers will need to sign a waiver and pay entry fees to obtain insurance.
Adult $40 ($25 if already an MTBco member)
Under 16 $25 ($10 if already an MTBco member)
Entry fees include annual MTBco membership.
Cheques payable to Mountain Bikers of the Central Okanagan
Download your entry forms and waiver from
the club website, print off and bring with you complete with cash/cheque payment. Or sign up on the day of the race.

And for all you racer wannabees out there here's a quote from the great man himself Muhammad Ali:
"Only a man who knows what it is like to be defeated can reach down to the bottom of his soul and come up with the extra ounce of power it takes to win".
