Mountain bike couple Macky Franklin and Syd Schulz have never been that into Valentine's day. Why spend money on roses and chocolate when you really just need new brake rotors? And why waste time on candlelit dinners when you could be spending the afternoon ripping down pristine New Zealand singletrack? This video is their ideal date - a little romance and a lot of shred, kneepads and roses.

So this Valentine's Day, do something different and take your date for a ride. Roses are optional, but the knee pads definitely aren't.

 Great video. I can't imagine dating someone who wasn't into mountain biking; it's one of the main things mine and my boyfriend's relationship is based on. Park tool stand in the bedroom? Check. Mountain bike based vacations? Check. Conversations about bike geometry and wheel size at the dinner table? Check!

 It works out great. I can go out riding with the guys and not worry about her wanting to tag along. I can get a new mtn bike whenever I want one as long as it's the same color as my old one because she can't tell the difference.............VPP, DWR, SP.........it has wheels is all she knows. Although, it does suck for vacations because she's always bitchin about me wanting to take my bike

 Great video, nice work Macky & Syd. So, I get that this was Queenstown and I don't want to crash 'your spot', but what trail was this? Was it all Moonlight? My girlfriend likes the look the trail, lucky me! :-D

 It's a combo of moonlight and golddigger. You can ride them both in a day from Arthur's point. Out and back if you're really keen. There are some dirt road climby bits in the middle that didn't make it into the video, haha.
