iXS Rookies Cup: Course Preview and Seeding Results

A short 7 minute gondola ride dropped riders off at the Waldbahn station at 1,840 meters above sea level. Riders were then gifted a one minute flowing run down to the start line ready to tackle the 1.5km long race track that drops almost 400 meters in height. The course would see the fastest riders dip under the 3 minutes and 30 seconds barrier on a good clean run on a challenging and technical track.


Straight out of the start line and into a dark wooded section littered with exposed roots and soft loamy corners caught many a rider out. Line choice was key as lines appeared along with braking bumps, large holes and hidden roots. Throw in some fast open, wide and loose corners, large kicker jumps, rock gardens, tight and technical switch backs and you have a course that would challenge even the best World Cup riders out there let alone the young guns of tomorrow that were racing here today.


Seeding started at 13:30 today with 200 riders on the start sheet from across Europe and a handful from the USA and Australia making the race a truly international affair as governed by the UCi commisaires that were present to ensure proceeding were safe and fair for everyone.
