Earlier in November, Marin/SR-Suntour sponsored athlete Kyle Warner won his third consecutive North American Enduro Tour title. We headed down for the last race in the Sierra Madres of Mexico, to watch him clinch the series on our brand new
2017 Hawk Hill - decked out in custom red, white and blue artwork. This marked the alloy trail bike's debut into professional competition, and his podium finish proved the capability of our new MultiTrac suspension.
"I had no idea what to expect at all, said Kyle. The course was raw and challenging, former social and hiking trails that are evolving into mountain bike trials. It lead to more of an improvisational style of riding, one that rewards quick reflexes. The Hawk Hill was selected as I wanted to showcase what it can do. I've had a lot of fun riding it and want to show people that the bike is the real deal."
High in the Sierra Madres, ready to defend the title.
"I came into the weekend with a pretty big points lead for the North American overall, and I have just been having a lot of fun riding the new bike."
Descending into Navidad.
The work day is done, time to roll back to Mascota for plates of fantastic 10 peso street tacos.
Day 2 had stages through rowdy, jungle-like forests.
"Ending the season on a high note has been awesome. It's been a wild ride the last couple of years. I've done a lot of races at a lot of cool places, and I don't think we could have ended anywhere better than Mascota."
Kyle douses the event promoter while taking the top step for the overall championship.
Staying on top of a bucking burro for two full seconds is far more difficult than staying on board a bicycle for solid days of racing.
Raicilla - aka "Mexican moonshine," an agave-derived spirit that predates Hispanic Mexico, popular in Jalisco. Winners each received a bottle of
this magical mescal.
All of us at Marin are super proud of Kyle and look forward to him racing hard to keep the winning streak through next season.
Now be sure to imbibe in the premier of “Racing y Raicilla,” documenting his impressive feat in this amazing part of Mexico.
