Calling All Ladies… Are you sick of being left behind when your partner takes off with the ‘bros’ for a backcountry adventure? Do you want to improve your skills and learn to navigate the backcountry with awesome female friends & coaches? If so this one’s for you! Adventure without the testosterone.

Tyax Adventures is teaming up with professional mountain biker, world renowned coach, and super fun human being; Katrina Strand to present the first ever ‘Ladies Only in the South Chilcotin’ mountain biking adventure camp. Join us to spend 4 nights and 3 days, July 3rd - 7th, 2014, riding the trails in the beautiful South Chilcotin Mountains of BC. We’ll start off the adventure at the luxurious Tyax Wilderness Resort & Spa before heading out into the backcountry by floatplane (yeah that’s right, we fly to the trailhead!), the next 3 days and 2 nights we will cover tons of amazing singletrack, learn new skills, eat great food, see stunning scenery and have the BEST time! We will end back at Tyax Wilderness Resort & Spa where we’ll enjoy the outdoor hot tub, and a well needed massage in the spa, followed by a gourmet dinner in the lakeside Restaurant, a fitting end to a Backcountry Adventure you won’t soon forget!

Each day in the Backcountry we will wake up to beautiful scenery, a delicious hot breakfast prepared by our camp hosts, and time for a nice morning stretch before we hit the trails. If you've heard of the South Chilcotin Mountains before you'll know this is a mecca for remote backcountry riding and singletrack in it's purest form. We will cover distances of between 25km - 30km per day, some days with some serious elevation gains all in a fun, safe and supportive environment. This isn't a race, and we won't have Strava on, we're just out for an amazing ride with some great ladies.

While in the Backcountry we will be staying in Tyax Adventures Backcountry camps. These camps are set up with cozy canvas wall tents each with 2 single bunks per tent complete with foam mattresses and sleeping bags. Top the day off with a hot shower, a hearty healthy dinner prepared by our camp host, and trading stores by the campfire under the stars.

This year's camp will be led by Emily Slaco and Katrina Strand, two passionate mountain bikers with years of coaching and guiding experience between them. Katrina Strand travels the globe as a professional mountain bike athlete and is recognized as one of the most “Influential People in Mountain Biking” (Decline Magazine) as well as Whistler’s Favourite Coach and Whistler’s Favourite Athlete. (Pique News Magazine). Katrina is never idle, running Strand training, working with high school kids and professional athletes alike. Emily Slaco is a strong all around mountain biker, who enjoys adventure rides as much as days riding the bike park. She has many strong finishes in XC, Enduro, and DH races. Emily has been working for Tyax Adventures since 2011, as a Mountain Bike Guide and Head of Sales and Marketing. On top of that Emily works as a coach for the WORCA summer camps and loves sharing her passion for mountain biking with others.
