@suspened-productions. I totally agree with these guys. Very well done. I really liked the use of b-roll to forward the story rather than just a bunch of artistic shots of spinning wheels and rack-focus from helmets to riders. The narrative breaks really carried me through the experience of the week and moved from subject to subject with great flow. This felt like it was made by filmmakers and not just "video guys." Again, great job.
I couldn't agree more. Great editing and a satisfying amount of content. Also, it serves the marketing machine well to be the first to produce the post-race vid (I suspect those late to the draw get fewer views).
@suspended-productions: not to mention it really personalizes the riders. I want to buy a YT bike, not because the company has shoved their product down my throat but because I genuinely like their riders.
@cdkozeluh: I agree. They'll probably develop new tires in the off season and then he's gonna ride them. It takes time and you don't want to experiment with tires during WC.
Can someone explain how that works in regards to sponsors? With all the drama in the off season surrounding his movements, wouldn't he have signed with Maxxis? Are Onza owned by a larger group?
@citizensnips: Don't really know, but it was very common in the old days, when the only good tires were made by maxxis. What's interesting is that maxxis and onza are made in the same factory.
New tire in the making, gonna be out between september and december. Spoke with Onza marketing and it's taking 8 to 9 months to make a tire. That's why the team run some Shorty's.
@Balgaroth: Guys, just want to clear up this whole Onza/Maxxis issue for you....the team (23 Degrees) has signed a 3 year development deal with Onza to put together the rubber that Aaron and the team want to race and win on. This doesn't happen overnight, and anyone who knows a thing or two about tire development will tell you it's a long process from design, protos, testing, making molds through to production and racing etc. In the meantime, our friends at Maxxis have been kind enough to provide product to race on when we don't have Onza rubber for the occasion, and Onza are fine with that as long as they remain the official tire sponsor. I can assure you Aaron is working hard behind the scenes on the new Onzas, but in the meantime, we'll be mixing it up because we have two very cool and understanding sponsors/supporters allowign the team to race at this level on quality product while we are in development. Thanks for all the positive comments on the vids that Brock is putting out, they are really some of the best I've seen, he is super talented and works all through Sunday night to deliver them to you!
@captain23: You guys keep getting better every race! Thanks for the hard work you guys have been putting in. Putting a team together like you guys did and getting the results you guys are getting is amazing. Keep it going!!!
Does anyone else think Ratboys not got his heart in it this year. Doesn't seem fazed by the lack of results in comparison to his previous years where he was putting top times in
You never know what´s going on in the guys personal life. We all go through hard times and as a top athlete that´ll surely reflect in your results. Maybe after a bad start and the Gwin domination he´s just focusing on the World Champs. Seems like something a lot of those guys are doing in some seasons. Just hold it together till World Champs. We might never know. I just hope he gets back to his old form soon.
And Gwin and Angel seem good for each other. Excitement, performance and little drama. Sure, Angel acts young but that's as he should. Gwin seems comfortable having a young gun on the team. Chemistry is so unscientific but YT looks to have it. The funded setup, the mechanic, the riders... it works. Well done.
@slimboyjim: I was thinking exactly the same. I think its the total lack of god bothering, seemed to get a bit much with Trek and Specialneeds. Comes across like a totally different guy with YT...seems happy, which is aways good to see
I love that we're getting to see a hint of Gwin's casual side. He's always been portrayed as all about the racing in the past. I feel like the YT move is good for him both for bikes and for presence. I feel like the track preview he was a lot more stylish than I've seen him ride doing manuals and big whips.
Ripping little feature film! Suspended-Productions does a great job and should get an immediate raise and a Championship bonus as well. Stoked for the YT Mob - I never thought the chemistry would work out, but I was so wrong.
It reminds me of the old 'drop test' where you'd drop it from waist height and see if it bounced or not. To be fair, I tried the Marsh garage test on my DH bike and it just bounced off to the side. That V10 is dialled.
What are they checking on the syndicate video when they are sideways slapping the bike with the tape and measuring rollout? Is that a function of rebound and return energy? I have never seen that done before. Can someone shed some light on it?
We might never know. I just hope he gets back to his old form soon.
;-)
