PRESS RELEASE: RAAW Mountain Bikes

A limited batch of Swedish gold has arrived at our HQ and is ready for action!

Ever since we started working with Öhlins, we’ve been in love with their products. They came to mountain bikes with a huge background in motorsport, both on two and four wheels. Their general approach to suspension design is to take care of the energy of an impact on its way into the travel through the compression damping. And that is where their products shine.

When things get rowdy, it’s that damped compression that avoids losing yourself deep in the travel. The shock and fork will have your back no matter what. This Öhlins approach helps keep the bike composed in every riding situation and the usable range of adjustment, both on high-speed and low-speed compression, makes it the tool of choice and a firm favorite here at RAAW.

The Jibb with Öhlins RXF36 and TTX22M or TTX2Air

We’ve offered the Öhlins TTX22M coil and TTX2Air shock since the beginning of last year and saw an opportunity to do a limited batch of chassis kits that includes one of those two shock options, an RXF36 for the Jibb or an RXF38 for the Madonna, all tied together with a Cane Creek Hellbender 70 headset.

Specialized
Commencal

But QA seems to work out? I haven´t heard the same horror stories as back when CaneCreek or DVO scaled up their production for bigger OEM sales.

Yes because no one had either money or intention to buy their products, now Öhlins is taking manufacturer's hands and giving supplies for "limited editions" Big Grin

@JohSch: Canyon, Mondraker, Antidote and Forestal too. I'm sure there are still more.

@riejuspike: I've got the TTX22M and RXF 36 M.2 coil and they are amazing so far! I agree the earlier products had bad issues but the M.2 forks are pretty awesome. Plus, I can fully service them myself!

That black and gold looks sexy. Pair it with a gold plate of a SRAM XX1 cassette and gold XX1 chain, voila!

@SimbaandHiggins: they even look much better in the flesh!

I recently built a Madonna with TTX2Air and RXF38 mostly because I wanted something different after being disappointed by Fox and RockShox offerings for some time now. After a few rides I am completely blow away at how different Ohilins feels compared to Fox or RS, the way the damping transitions into the HSC as you start taking bigger hits is just so smooth. I feel like Ohlins is starting to hit their stride in MTB products, its a shame they caught a bad rep from the initial specialized offerings.

  • 1 0
@initforthedonuts: Great, do you know how does it work? Do you pay any taxes here? If so how?
  • 2 0
Hi, yes we do ship to the US/ worldwide. On orders outside the European Union, local taxes and duties will be charged upon arrival by the local customs. Feel free to send us a message at hello at raawmtb.com if you have any questions.

@phalley: Getting my Jibb to the US couldn't have been easier. Love this bike.

I bought a Raaw Madonna this year and I am beyond stoked on the bike. Seamless ordering, shipping, and build. The Raaw crew deserve high praise for sure.

Love my Jibb so far. The only issue I have had with it is a persistent creak that hasn’t gone away after cleaning and regreasing all pivots. Curiously, it does not creak when riding in the wet, only in dry weather.
  • 2 0
@theflowkid Check your bearings. I have had a couple go bad on my Madonna. Same weather situation. Always a lonely creaking bearing that makes it sound like the bike is gonna fall apart while pedaling. Even if it’s just a tiny bit crunchy you gotta replace it. The bearing kit from RAAW is actually a good deal since it includes those hard to find monster bearings.

Loose seatpost clamps, loose cranks and low torque starnuts can also cause noise.

@theflowkid Curious what yours sounds like, i've been having a similar issue. it's pretty small and happens if I push through the suspension about 60% (either seated or pushing through the pedals). Then it creaks when I pick the bike up and the shock tops out. I've cleaned and re-greased each pivot, checked cable rub, everything i can think of.

@gafotes I haven't tried replacing bearings yet, maybe i'll order a bearing kit and give that a go.
  • 1 0
@sudochuckwalla: It’s a very audible creak while pedaling. It can also be replicated if I push laterally on the rear wheel while the bike is stationary. Sounds like it’s coming from the rocker area.

Might give replacing some of the bearings a go. The didn’t feel stiff while I was regreasing though.
  • 1 0
@theflowkid: that sounds like the creak I had when I got it, ended up replacing the main pivot and nut and it went away. I still have the one I described but I think that is something else. I used to be able to get it to creak via the wheel like you mentioned

I've been in love with the Madonna since I tested the V1 back in 2019. It's all you need on a mountain and beyond. The Ohlins build is taking it next level.
  • 2 0
Why on earth would you have a bike called the 'jibb' that wasnt small wheels!? Madness defying all norms! But seriously I want 27" wheels
  • 1 0
I thought you said _small_ wheels?
  • 1 0
I already have a Madonna and I still want this. With the current exchange, it's a good time to buy - especially for you Americans.
  • 2 0
you could fit a lot of weed in that lower pivot.
  • 1 0
Love the black coil sprung Jibb.. Wow.
  • 1 0
How is is the raw RAAW frame without shock/fork?
  • 1 0
Went tight with them steerer tubes.
  • 1 0
 Nice would rag hard
  • 1 0
 Price crazy crazy....
  • 2 1
Considering that there's already well over 2k in suspension alone, it's actually not that crazy!
  • 1 2
Trek/Raw/Transition....which rocker link style does one go with?
  • 3 1
Not trek that’s for sure ‍
  • 6 0
Maybe (juuuuust maybe) a lot of companies use a rocker link because it works really well.

 @wyorider:
What attracted me to the RAAW option was the massive effort made to protect the bearings. And the massive main pivot. Plus, it checks all the Pinkbike requirement boxes: Raw aluminum, water bottle mount, non-super-boost spacing, etc…
