A few weeks ago I picked up the new Patrol from Transition and met up with videographer Jack Anderson in Seattle for a few days of shooting. Jack and his friends cut a new trail through some classic northwest forest that was a prime spot to put the Patrol through it's paces. With inches of fresh dirt, moss, leaves and pounding rain, we came up with Loam Patrol. Enjoy!

Cool video. Loving the new Transition Bikes.

I also like the music choice, (prepares for the hate) it made the video feel fun and not too serious. There are other videos that do this too. My point being that not everything needs to be "epic". Dub-step, trance, and imagine dragons get played out real quick. Too many mountain biking videos take themselves way to seriously for what this sport is.

yeah, i occasionally love riding my tranny

Cant wait to upgrade my Bandit to a Patrol ! Yeeeewwwwww!! Transition make such sick bikes !!
  • 1 0
i just love that kinda terrain!! that dirt looks awsome to ride in!!
  • 2 3
point this reply down all you want but i dislike mtb's music transition into rap... it just doesn't suit the tranquil and inspiring feel nature has to offer ... dubsetp, trance and imagine dragon for sure get over played but that genre has a certain epicness to it that mtb and mountains have to offer. but either way to each their own

Transition is kicking ass with it's new lineup. Their prices are realistic too. Bigger companies with shit tons more money for "R n' D" and sales across ranges of bikes from kid's bikes to urban to road are seriously gonna have to come up with new excuses for bilking riders. Transition makes mtn. bikes. Rant done.

I like Transition and all, but that looks an awful lot like my Trek Remedy, built with lots of R&D behind it. Sweet video though, I wish there was some loam in Colorado Smile

I would say it's way closer to the Slash, and I've ridden the Slash and the Patrol, the Patrol wins.

The 2015 650B copy, ahm... edition of the original Spesh Pitch is really an awesome machine. Just wondering if it's as bombproof as all Transition bikes before or has the genes from it's Cali ancestor, which is nearly indestructable.
  • 3 0
also kinda looks alot like the norco range and sight?
  • 11 0
who cares what it looks like, the price is right and I don't have to hear all the marketing BS behind it. Transition bikes, you finally get what you pay for.
  • 4 3
point is that the norco comes in a lot cheaper with a better parts spec...norco 2015 sight 3025$ compared to the 3900$. so if the bikes are being made at the same tiwanese factories but badged differently, im going with bang for the buck. Cause I earn my money and ill take that extra 700$ or so in my pocket......thats all!!! So maybe you are not getting what you pay for?
  • 9 1
@Bird-Man , the Sight in that price range you are refering to is the Sight, A7.1. It comes with a Revaltion RL, Monarc RL, Deore hubs, Deore Brakes , Xt rear Der and SLX Shifters, its retail is 3190 CAD. Comes with Maxxis Ardent.

The Patrol is 3500 USD / 3900 CAD ish, but the parts speck is no where comparable. First off you get a Monarc plus RC3 Debonair, and a Pike RC, race face ride cranks with NW sprocket, lower end SLX der, Sram AKA formula sealed bearing hubs, and Hive 42 extended range rear cog, same Deore brakes. Also comes with Scwhabble magic marry and Razor Rock tires. Very few corners cut. at most the norco has the XT der.

The price difference for the upgraded suspension, sealed bearing hubs and race face speck is well worth the extra $$$. especially if your already dropping that kinda cash.

If you compare it to the Sight A 7.0 which is now 3900 comparable with the Patrol, the only major differences from the A7.1 is a non kashima fox Fit 32mm CTD fork, and upgraded to SLX groupo (brakes, hubs, cranks).. still I would take the Patrol cause that Suspension is impressive at that price.

the new bikes have 4bar linkage which makes them very interesting also the parts spec is very nice nice to see they still sell 26ers

Another great loamy wet dream video. The riding and music flowed well together.

Skye is riding the new Gradient Stem in this video. We just got them in stock, and it's got some pretty cool CNC work going on.

Check it out. ridegravity.com/portfolio-item/gradient-stem

I didn't know that someone can have such power? Protour is excellent at exposing conspiracy behind Pinkbike reviews of all Specialized bikes. Team Robot is also having a particular relationship with that brand. All i know is that nothing can kill a troll.
  • 3 2
I had to give you at least one prop there @WAKIdeaigns. You of all people should know that nothing can kill a troll :-). Don't alwayd agree with you but you certainly put yourself out there and are willing to roll with thr punches.

crf-999 I do have an incredible verbal diarrhea lately of Biblical proportions and I believe that if you put crap into someone's eyes then you should also be able to take crap for it. Accepting consequences of our actions make us better.

Just bought a Patrol 3 with a KS LEV integra post!
I was torn between black or orange, build up or stock, and then Belmont Wheelworks in MA put the orange medium Patrol 3 they had in stock on sale for 3325! Awesome bike and awesome price! $3666 with the dropper post and needs nothing!
Still waiting for all the snow to melt before I can give real ride impressions but so far I can tell it is a wheelie/manual monster!

Going to be hella disappointed when this isn't the next VOD!!! Sick edit.

i demo'd this bike a couple weeks ago. kicks ass, in a nutshell. super fun, poppy and playful despite the slack h/a, and was a surprisingly good tech climber as well. really well sorted. loved it.

Trail looks awesome and so does the bike
  • 6 4
Nice job Skye, Jack, and crew. And props to all those who helped build that trail!

Is that a size small frame? He looks to be at least 6' tall. Now I'm rethinking my Large order... Loving the bike and nice riding!
  • 2 0
To answer your question, that frame is a large. (and yes he's about 6 feet tall).
  • 6 4
 Sick video and awesome trail.

good riding, I live in Seattle, One good thing about living here is just as much forest to work with as BC.
  • 2 0
Where are these trails? Just moved to the area and wanna ride em!
  • 4 0
Probably secret trails. People here do not like to share trail locations. I don't mind digging, and pitchinh in on building people are too teratorial.
  • 1 0
 Their secret
  • 1 0
I also live in Seattle, Where are those trails? The only ones i know of that are within a couple hours of Seattle are Tiger Mountain, Galbraith, and Duthie and I don't recognize this one.
  • 1 0
 Just a lil further up I 90
  • 2 0
It certainly is their secret and I understand building a trail takes lots of work but would be nice to help build and dig. I get it though. Too many people riding would destroy lots of effort and also lots of these trails would be shut down if the location was known to everyone. I'm certainly interested in buidling though. I want to go ride the big hills out near Wenatchee in the Swakane valley. That's smooth big terrain.
  • 3 2
All these people talking about how they'd be willing to help dig, the guys in the video didn't wait around whining, they went and dug
  • 2 0
As have I. But a variety of trails are nice.
  • 1 0
There's lots of "secrets" in this part of the country. All the good trails seem to be secret, as the tame ones are the only ones I can find info for online. It's upsetting because I'd love to ride some good stuff as I know it exists up here, I just haven't found any in the 2 months I've been here. Stevens was a kick though!!
  • 1 0
@ericwahl83 You know its all about plugging yourself into the right network of people here of which I am not part of that group. I ride solo mainly. Like I mentioned people here are so "secretive and territorial" I am in the same boat my buddies are content to ride Duthie every weekend. I mean year round bike park is great. Can't complain but I really want to find some decent long downhill that's not out there that the masses ride. This spring I may start building a trail myself. I know exactly where I want it. Loamy, that's the PNW. We got Loam for days. Washington State is just as good as BC. We have forest rides on the west sides, Big Mountain riding and desert riding on the east side. No need to go to BC. I'm content riding my home state.

Truthfully I'd invite you to ride with me, but if Duthie and Galbraith are easy for you then you are above my skill level and I would hold you back. I am still improving at Duthie and it really is a great place to learn to ride. I like to progress at my own pace. I finally got a bike worthy of riding everything. Before I was on a hardtail 29. I felt very limited on that bike. I am ready to do more now.

Loved that man! PNW season is in full force.

I guess four bar rockers are tried and true if Tranny is switching the line up. Nice looking ride but 155mm in the back is sort of strange, and those wheels are too big. Kona Process 167 is a likely candidate, mini DH/park sled that loves to climb.
  • 4 0
 Transition suppressor... Look it up
  • 3 0
They switched now, beacuse Specialized patent was up. Four bar rockers are the real deal.
  • 1 0
Not sure why 155 is a weird size. There's currently a pretty big gap between 160 and 200 because no one except x-fusion is making 650b 180mm forks. Your only other option is a DH fork with a travel reducer.
  • 2 0
 26" Metric 180mm, awesome fork.
  • 1 0
Really nice video. Kinda has a Rupert Walker feel which is never a bad thing.

Awesome trails, gorgeous bike, sick riding.
  • 1 4
...wow, even the same colour spec as the new DB's. To those that haven't figured it out yet, these are the same faux four bar suspension designs that Kona and a few others have been using for ages with minor geometry changes... Aka. Crap. At least norco finally gave in and went with a true Horst link. The DB Mission was the only faux that actually was a good value with their spec, these, ugh...

Is this really any different to a remedy? i'd be putting my money into new tech like the yeti sb6c, mach 6 etc
  • 1 0
yes, very different. The pivot placement and headtube/seat tube/bb height are all different. The only real similarity is the general shock placement.
  • 1 0
Hey the remedy is a great bike and the transition looks s*^t hot! great vid too. Would like to compare this to the competition;-)
