Loic Bruni and Miriam Nicole Win at St Maxime

The St Maxime DH isn't a big race in many ways. It's a small race run in the South East of France to keep the racers interested in the off-season. It's a testament to just how deep the talent runs here in this corner of Europe that the start list would leave many national series race organisers green with envy.

Top riders aside, there was a big turnout of all levels for this race.

The wings on Loic Brunis Red Bull helmet seem to be doing the trick as he pulled a couple of seconds on the stacked field.

The St Maxime DH track isn t the kind of terrain that suit Remi Thirion - there wasn t not enough gradient for the big course specialist who grabbed third today three seconds off Bruni.

Loic is gonna take a WC DH win this season I think , his rate of progression is amazing , plus now hes getting his ' man strength ' to match his skills.

it'll be interesting how him an troy brosnan face up this year, they both definitely have stepped up that extra bit this year and are serious contenders for a win

Yeah Troy is another one whos gonna turn it up big time this year I think

I think that LB could challenge for the overall if he can keep it rubber side down. Always comes across as such a nice guy who is in it for the right reasons.

Mick Hannah is my bet for this year

Troy could borrow some of his man strength

Id like to see 4 different riders take the win in the 1st 4 races of the season, the field is looking very strong at the top this year, Minnaar, Gee, Stevie Smith, Troy, Loic, hopefully Sam Hill and Danny Hart too. And who knows, maybe even Gwin will turn up this year. Not to mention the Kiwis. Gonna be a great season!!!

True very true but i just cant see mick challenging for the overall. I think he will get a couple of podiums and possibly even a win but i believe that the competition is very tough this year. Going to be good racing

Fontana usually has an enviable pro start list. It's nothing compared to the South of France.

Yep. Not too long a go one of the Aussie rounds had four World Champions on the podium -Hill, Brosnan, Graves, Cory.

pom pom on clips, does anyone ride flats anymore??
  • 6 4
Ride flats on both my DH and AM. Tried clips on my AM but just do not feel it. Flats for life.
  • 1 0
Sam Hill, Connor Fearon and Bulldog are the main ones now i think. Blenki and Ratboy are both clipped in most of the time.
  • 2 0
Wasnt there an interview with bulldog saying he's running clips now ?
  • 1 0
@BenHalsall apparently Connor went to clips for a few runs and for the finals of the Aussie champs Smile

For racers, figures proove that running clips is faster, but for the everyday folk it's down to personnal preferences. I've tried hard to like clips, and I just can't. But I'm using the 5.10 Minnaar shoes for flats, it's unbelievable the grip you get! Miles better than my other set of 5.10 Sam Hill ... Less comfy on the pushing though.
