D1. It isn't new. It has been a trail that lived in the park for years. It sat resting right above Fitzsimmons chair. But over time it became decrepit, miserable, and cynical. It lived a good life but it was time to put it out of its misery.

Long Live D1 Whistler Bike Park - Video

We ended its life. D1 is dead.

But with the old comes the new. Modern shapes and build techniques helped pave the way for a rebirth. D1 came back. But it didn't look like it did before. It's a brand new trail with some saying the best in the park.

D1 lives again.

11 days at the very end of the season for only 285CD HOW GENEROUS!!1 Lift prices are becoming ridiculous.
  • 31 0
Did you ever spent time in Whistler? The lift pass is the most affordable thing there... But a visit is worth every penny!
  • 5 0
 @SleepingAwake: Nope, too broke yet.
  • 9 0
Have you seen the price for winter season passes?
  • 12 4
$25.90 a day is less than half the cost of a day ticket, so yeah it IS a generous deal.
  • 2 1
@gramboh: Well whats the cost on a full seasons pass... like $600 or so (for 5 months)... so for half that you get 2 weeks at the end of the season...
  • 2 0
@bull-dozer: Fall season pass runs from Sept 1 to Oct 9th. So that's 5+ weeks of riding.
  • 1 0
@bull-dozer: it's like 700 ish I believe. But look at it from the other side, it's worth it even if you happen to be there on a two week vacation...
  • 5 0
@bull-dozer: but you could have had close to 40 days if you put life on hold a little earlier than the last two weeks...just sayin.
  • 2 0
@gramboh: we like to think so.
  • 1 0
@WhistlerMountainBikePark: You guys are like drug pushers. I just got back from riding 9 full days in the park, and my fall season pass is just sitting there whispering to me that I should skip out of work and head back up for a long closing weekend. Put life on hold.....OK, twist my arm.

To write the password - press on the "views etc" blue lettering that is usually underneath the videos and the password video eh, letterbox? - meaning where you write the password - appears. The video will then appear.
Huzzah!

I love the shot where it is split into three panels, appearing one after the other. Quite unique! Very cool video and very cool looking trail.

Yeah, we're really digging it too.

Originally known as 'Mexcavator' I believe...
  • 7 0
 Yup. Can confirm. Smile

 Originally....

That feeling when you've left the bike park without riding a certain trail cause it was under construction when you were there so you couldn't have ridden it anyway but you're on Pinkbike going on about it anyway, leading you to question why you're here typing this when you could be booking another trip to Whistler...

Why do i feel like this edit is inspired by Mutiny 'Catasauqua'? haha - www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBGoKtTEI7U

Nice made, but i prefer Mutinys

Came here to say the same thing. Robbo kills it so prefer the catty edit but this was still rad

Remember when all that PB can tolerate were no slow-mo videos with death metal or punk sound track? PB sure had mutated in such a quick time.

How did they not think to use Megadeth's Kill the King...! Seemed to fit the the motif super well haha, maybe I'm biased as a huge megadeth fan, but anything better than space noises

 I've never ridden D1.
The Pro line designation always scared me off to easier trails like Freight Train and In Deep.
But it looks minty in the vid. Is it truly a pro line? Or is that to scare the weekend warriors away?
  • 3 0
the new line is fucking rowdy IMO and I ride the park everyday.
  • 6 0
You have to be far more precise than other flow trails, with features about the same size as expert flow trails but everything coming at you faster. Drop corner jump corner step down pedal step up - always hit the landing sweet spot, if your speed is off you'll either blow off the trail or come up short. That's what makes it this a pro line IMO, on the expert flow trails you usually have a lot of time to pedal or catch yourself if something goes funky.
  • 6 0
It's a Pro Line. For real.
  • 6 0
@WhistlerMountainBikePark: Its all about cornering...this trail will demonstrate to you very quickly if you know how to corner or not... jumps are not huge but its very technical.
  • 3 0
I was just up there and had no problem with the non pro line trails. Rolled D1 and was humbled.
  • 2 1
Oh to be at Whistler in October! I was there a few weeks ago for the first time in 15 years, bloody awesome! Planning a bigger trip there next year!
  • 2 0

@colincolin the fall lift pass for 285 Can started 4th Sept, so if you bought it then you'd get 5 weeks of riding.

That video was kinda creepy. Sick looking trail though!

Meanwhile in Europe, bikeparks will close in December.
  • 2 1
We will be sledding, boarding and skiing by then... Last season I had snow over the hood first day out near Golden, some guys were riding in November. I'd rather be riding my sled anywaysSmile

  • 1 1
Says vid is no longer available.
  • 1 3
Fortunately for you! You didn't lose 3.minutes of your life
  • 3 6
Not to say it wouldn't be fun. But old D1 was better. Plus video just showed the same parts of the trail over and over. Now the trail looks like A line or all the rest of the jump lines. Wide and smooth.
  • 8 0
Go clear it and report back. It's proper now.
  • 4 0
lol, you even ride the new D1 yet?
  • 1 0
Of course. Why would I waste my time writing something? Ha @gramboh:
  • 1 0
@pinittowinit87: never heard anyone say they liked the old one better is all, new one is a masterpiece.
  • 4 6
Boo!! Old D1 was my favorite trail there, now it looks quite sanitized. #blacktrailsmatter
  • 9 1
Old D1 stunk and had to be put down like Old Yeller.
