Details Announced for Long Way Home Bike Festival 2019

Welch Village Mountain Bike Park invites you to race, spectate, and experience the Long Way Home Bike Festival this summer on August 10th, 2019. The festival’s main event will feature a bike race beginning Saturday morning and continuing until late afternoon, followed by a beer garden and live musical acts.


Welch Village is perfectly poised to introduce enduro racing to mountain bikers across the Twin Cities metro. Boasting the only lift access trails in the area, Welch Village is in a unique position to cultivate gravity-based riding, racing, and community. With the striking Cannon River Valley as a backdrop to our post-race party, local beer will be poured and local bands will play us into the night in support of the first enduro race in the Twin Cities. Welch Village is proud to bring a mountain bike enduro racing event to the Minneapolis-St. Paul market.

Enduro racing is a relatively new discipline in mountain biking; testing every aspect of a rider’s skill set by blending timed downhill stages with time-limited uphill climbs. Over the course of five stages, racers will pedal their bikes from the base area to the top of the hill within a time window before racing back down against the clock. If a rider exceeds the period of time allowed for completing an uphill climb, they receive a penalty. The day’s overall winner will be the rider with the fastest cumulative downhill time, including any accrued penalties. Enduro is an exciting race format that rewards racers that can balance the flat-out sprint of downhill racing with the endurance required of cross-country athletes.


Welch Village Mountain Bike Park is the only chairlift accessible trail system in southern Minnesota. Providing trails that cater to all levels of riding, from beginner flow trails to rhythmic jump lines and technical rock gardens, the bike park at Welch Village is a complete and still growing hub for mountain bike progression.
