PRESS RELEASE: Ibis CyclesFour-time UCI World Champion, and winner of almost every kind of bike race you can think of, Brian Lopes has partnered with Ibis Cycles to launch a US domestic enduro racing team, along with support from DVO Suspension, G-Form Protection, WTB Tires and Saddles, ODI Grips, Wolf Tooth Components, Fox Racing, and Dynaplug.

From 2008 through 2013 Lopes was an Ibis sponsored athlete, and now he returns in a new role as a team manager. The team is focused on contesting the California Enduro Series (CES), as well as some of the EWS Continental events. The roster includes: Evan Geankoplis 26, winner of the 2016 CES, and 2017 runner-up; Essence Barton 25, 2nd Overall in CES for both 2017 and 2016; rounding out the squad will be former U18 CES Champion, Paul Serra 18; and Lili Heim 17.

| Tom [Ibis President, Tom Morgan] and I were talking, and he said that he was interested in starting a domestic racing team to compliment their EWS team, but that he didn’t have the bandwidth to manage both the teams and Ibis. I’ve been working with athletes as a coach for a few years now and thought that it would be a way to share my experience with some younger riders and reconnect with Ibis.—Brian Lopes |

| We didn’t stop being friends when he stopped riding for Ibis. We’ve always stayed in touch and when the opportunity to work together again came up it just made so much sense. Working with our EWS team over the past few years has made it clear that we needed some way to search for and develop younger riders, and I don’t think there’s anyone who could better prepare young riders for the rigors of racing at the highest level than Brian.—Tom Morgan |

Asked about riding for Ibis under the guidance of a legend like Lopes, Geankoplis said:
“I’ve worked at an Ibis dealer for over 5 years, and since the beginning of working with and riding Ibis has been a dream of mine. And I couldn't imagine having a better team manager than Brian Lopes. The guy has as much or more experience than anyone in the sport and is always there for us.”The Ibis Cycles National Team will be racing the Ripmo and HD4 at Enduro races across the country. Photo Credit: Rob Trnka. The team has already made its presence felt with Geankoplis winning the DVO Winter Gravity Series Enduro at Bootleg Canyon, Barton taking 2nd in the Women’s Pro Enduro at the Sea Otter Classic, and Heim winning the U18 Sea Otter enduro race. Look for them to continue slaying the field starting with CES
#1 at Toro Park on May 26th.
MENTIONS: @ibiscycles
I’m glad you don’t believe it would stand up in Court, I feel confident it would, but I have only been a trial attorney for 20 years, so you may have more litigation experience than I do.
cmon guys - penal code. whip it out. get it? nobody?
if someone was to pull that crap, it would be very obvious that they were not really friends in the first place.
Ibis Domestic Rider: But isn't taking up two spots wrong? It means someone else won't be able to park there.
Lopes: You're off the team.
1. Session
2. Specialized suing somebody/something
3. 28.99, which, time-wise, isn't that old and tired, yet seems like it's been around for decades.
Maybe water bottles stays..
Thank you! Goodnight everyone! I'll be at Pechanga in 2 weeks!
Michael Jordan, Derek Jeter, Mike Singletary...
I know that there are differences between team, endurance, and extreme sports, but I think if you are a supreme talent, then the details and nuisances less talents have to work hard at are lost.
FWIW, You can really tell he’s passionate about bikes by his tenacity to keep dicking around. If everyone where I worked openly said they didn’t like me, I sure as sh!t would find something else to do. Or maybe I just wouldn’t be a dick anymore? There’s a book I read my three year-old when he has a bad day. It’s called Billy Bully: a school-yard counting tale. Maybe someone should read it to him. Improvise as Brain Bully...?
Ibis would be better served putting their money in to improving the fit and finish of their frames instead of paying Lopes mortgage.

lester kasai!!!!!!!!!
Didn’t even bring in a six pack.
She brought in a signed poster.
Pretty much sums up the Lopes’ I’d say.
1) Ibis + DVO = Awsome.
2) I am not the biggest Lopez fan, but Kabush deserved it. Lopez was clear About not getting sprayed and Kabush did it anyway.
3). Lopez is a driven guy, so probably perfect to be a manager.
I raced and worked in a booth at the NORBA series for several years during the 1990's /early 2000's while working for a well known wheel builder at the time from the BMX world. My boss/owner knew most of the BMX pros coming into the MTB world and dominating at the time (Lopes, King, Cullinan, Carter, The Houseman Brothers, etc.). During that time we did some work with many of those pros including Lopes. From competitive perspective he is 100% professional and focused. However, behind the scenes he is actually a pretty cool guy. Most people talking shit about him only focus on a handful of incidences that everyone else on the blogosphere repeat. Yes he can be intense and many people provoke him because of it. 'Down to Earth' doesn't necessarily mean a good manager or coach. I understand that being a pro doesn't either. However, I am sure those signing his check feel good with their decision.
Ok, everyone down vote me into oblivion.......
Cheers

It was a chest punch, not an upper cut to the jaw. It's a punch many dudes would give to one of their friends if they pissed them off. Safe to say he isn't the only one who would have done it. Brian doesn't like being sprayed AND gave warning. Was it unfortunate? Sure...put I think it was/is WAAAAY overblown
