Icelandic Race

MiM (Made in Mountains) is a group of passionate adventures and bikers from Iceland with the intention of showcasing their country in the most exciting ways possible. With multiple destinations and tours covering the whole land, the people behind MiM are sure to find something to suit all levels and experiences.

This August 16th-19th perhaps the greatest partner race has been created to challenge any XC cycling enthusiast/professional. The Glacier 360 stage race is extended over a period of 3 days, circumnavigating one of Iceland's largest Glaciers, Langjökull.

The Icecap is located up in the Highlands of Iceland, it's one of the most unique, unspoiled and untouched places on the planet. Where fire meets ice and the landscape just keeps giving as far as the eye can see. The race has been designed to incorporate Geysir and Gullfoss, two of the most iconic wonders in Iceland.

Being one of the most rugged and raw places on the planet, the course is exposed to the elements at all times. Weather and conditions will be an added exciting challenge and competitors will have an advantage the more prepared they are.

During the race you will pass glaciers, cross rivers, and climb hills in the volcanic landscape and push yourself to the limit in the 24hr light. You can sign up with a buddy or partner for the MTB marathon stage race of a lifetime!

Facing all that nature can throw at you may be exhausting but the rewards when finishing a stage couldn't be more in contrast. MiM have organised a comfortable basecamp and accommodation for all athletes at the end of each stage, where there will be the chance to share stories of the day, plan for the one ahead and do so in the Icelandic nature, bathing in geo thermal heated pools.

As soon as you arrive in Iceland, MiM have made sure that you will be taken care of. This is a full-service experience which will enable you and your bike to be in the best condition possible before setting out on the race. In such exposed wilderness it has been taken very seriously to establish professional management and safety procedures pre, during and post race, all participants will receive this information with more details upon sign up.

To make sure you can perform to at your pinnacle, food and drink stations will be available at your disposal for the duration of the course along with race marshals manning the circuit and giving assistance when crossing unbridged rivers.

Why ride this fast? It looks so beautiful you would want to go slowly to take it all in. Look for my name at the bottom of the standings everyday.

Exactly what I was thinking. I would gladly take last place in a race like that.

Talk about an awesome race. I've always heard great things about how Iceland is so beautiful. This would be one way to take some of its beauty in, but like someone said, you would want to go slowly to take it all in, HAHAHA! Great share!!

Couldn't they have done this as a multi day enduro?? I would definitely do that but I don't think I can stomach the idea of a 3 day xc race....

That would be perfect, with time to look around in the uphills and before stage start. That and not being a team race would be cool. None of my friends are as fast as I am! OK that's not quite true Wink
