For round two of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup, the Madison Saracen team headed out to the dust, heat and occasional storms of Cairns in Australia. With a solid result at round one, Manon Carpenter, Marc Beaumont, Matt Simmonds and Matt Walker were all looking to push themselves and get the series properly underway.

After a second place last time out in Lourdes and the quickest time in seeding, 16-year-old junior rider Matt Walker was looking good for his first world cup win. He finished in a time of 3:38.985 and claimed victory in Australia, taking the lead of the series as well to top off his perfect weekend.
Marc Beaumont charged his way back into big show, qualifying for the final and finishing 32nd - onward and upwards!

Manon Carpenter was going strong all weekend and hooked up her run to take a well-deserved third place. Manon is in third place in the series overall, just five points behind second.
