Madison Saracen Reveal Team Bikes and Kits for 2017

Mar 17, 2017
by Saracen Bikes
The new-look Team Myst breaks cover for Madison Saracen for the 2017 season with a stunning paint job.

Not much has changed with the frame for the 2017 season but a subtle pearlescent clear lacquer over raw carbon finish coupled with the familiar Madison Saracen red results in an accomplished and grown-up steed. Ridden by Marc Beaumont, Matt Simmonds, Matt Walker and new addition Alex Marin, this new Myst will certainly stand out on the circuit this year.

The orange accents throughout not only fit in with the Fox suspension but also complement the new kit from Madison Clothing to give a complete look to the whole team as they compete across the globe.

As well as Spaniard Alex Marin, Maxxis Tyres has also joined Madison Saracen for the coming season, with the goal of adding even more speed and control to an already impressive looking line-up.

Madison Saracen Team Myst 2017 Bikes and Kits

bigquotesEvery year when we see the Saracen Myst line up at a world cup start line, it makes all the hard work and time we have invested into this race machine, extremely worthwhile. We work closely with Will (Longden) and use rider feedback to bring race ready machines, straight from the box to the market. Whether racing your local series or attacking the world cup scene, the Myst is ready to go.Jack Geoghegan, Saracen Brand Manager

bigquotesThe new Myst team bikes are looking awesome! They look even better with a bit of sunshine on them, so I can’t wait now to get the team back on the road when the World Cup kicks off in Lourdes, France in just six weeks’ time. We have all been working hard over the winter, fine-tuning set-ups and the riders are training hard to get in the best possible shape. Next stop for the riders is two warm-up races in Portugal before heading home for the first British Downhill Series race of the year. The team is looking better than ever with the new bikes and Madison Clothing kit, all we need now is some results to match it!Will Longden, Team Manager

To match the new-look Myst, the Madison Saracen Team Kit has been completely revitalised for 2017, and now not only matches the bike but it looks fantastic as a stand alone.

bigquotesIt’s great to have a new look—I like the gear and think it’s making a big statement. Last year the bike was bold and the kit quite mellow, so it's great to reverse that with a kit that pops and a subtle bike design that gives a complete look for the team. Pre-season has been ace and building into the season nicely, so I can’t wait to get started and hopefully bag some good results.Marc Beaumont

Wow you're right. Small that dough at a bike company and they couldn't hire a designer to do a better photoshop job than that, heck you don't even need a designer, any 12 year old kid could that that in a matter of minutes...

That shirt make's me think of these retro Camaro-seats. A saddle with similar design maybe, Madison?

The solution: do not install brakes. Ride like the pioneers with their useless clinchers and return to your roots (that's actually a pun, because you will totally wipe out and end up slamming into the roots you should've slowed down for. Why don't you have brakes? Are you an idiot?)

 lol what
  • 1 0
It sounds like the Myst was designed with a lot of anti-rise to keep the geometry in check when the brakes are applied. Sure, the suspension is more likely to lock up but at least the geometry will stay neutral. The worst is when the rear kicks up after applying the rear brakes in a steep section - something that old single pivots were know for.

 Brake jack is a myth.

Check out what Paul had to say about that. m.pinkbike.com/news/saracen-myst-team-carbon-review-2016.html

But you state you were in touch with Starling about getting a bike from them, which is also a single pivot......
  • 5 0
@sicmoto : I think the relevant quote from @AJBarlas' link is as follows "Riding the Myst, I learned not to brake on larger bumps - get out of them, brake before them, after them, whatever - and if you can do that, you won't be moaning on about single-pivot swingarms not working under braking."
  • 2 0
@Zaff: He either has short term memory, changes opinion daily or is just a troll.

His last comment on PB stated he was in contact with Starling about a new bike - They are also a single pivot design.
  • 2 1
 stop braking to avoid jack...
  • 2 0
@Zaff: Correct. Rear single pivot suspension works when braking. Its a non issue in reality. The advantages with a well designed single pivot: Its a much stiffer bike overall compared to wobbly 4 Links.

The Sar translates somewhere between 2.1 and 2.3:1. That means running very soft springs 150-200lb and low pressure in shocks. That means I can dial my suspension much more accurately and the loads on all components is low, the ramp up range is large at 45% sag. 2.3 means its also very similiar to a good low pressure dual crown.

Compare that to 4 Links which run 400lb springs and high pressure.
Thats why I enjoy my Hydro/Emerald and the Saracen works exactly like a Hydro.

@Racer951: jumping jacks guys it was a joke based on the review video. Cool the beans, I'm sure the bike's grand.
  • 1 0
@wakaba: like it. Like it a lot.
  • 1 0
@nickkk: Plows are fun. I think the Sar frame is great but underforked.
  • 1 0
@wakaba: that's interesting, the 40 is famously a very capable. Which replacement then? or do you mean something else..?
  • 1 0
@nickkk: DVO? They just are less fatiguing
  • 1 0
@seraph: jet fuel melts brake jack
  • 1 0
@wakaba: ah nice. I've not had the pleasure of trying a DVO, but have always loved the look of UD forks. I think their coming out with a conventional twin crown soon iirc.
