Unspoken qualification: "Some $$$ in a saving account" -or- "Willingness to have a part-time job after work (to make money for food and rent)"

How is a part time job going to pay for food and rent? Must be one hell of a good-paying, part-time job haha

@SeaJay: Especially here in Seattle. Maybe they let you live under a rock up on Tiger Mtn.
  • 3 0
@Deep-Friar: I know some good rocks for that up on Tiger. Many are trail side.

live under a rock in seattle sounds grungy

You might turn into a Cup of Noodles after 10 weeks...

I love Evergreen, and I am interested in this position, but I can't live off $500 for 10 weeks.
  • 4 0
but you could be eligible for maximum food stamps bro

Evergreen does great work, but trying to hire someone full time for $1.25 an hour?? If they provided food and lodging I could see someone being interested. People need to live! You should take away the stipend, because it's embarrassing, and call this a volunteer position.

Must have highly marketable skills in a highly relevant field and be willing to work 40 hours a week in one of the most expensive cities in the world, but not be paid. Don't worry though you'll gain valuable experience and posture yourself for what will certainly be a lucrative career in non-profit mountain biking. Sorry, I dig your mission, but this is a bit absurd. End rant

Lol, the job is at least a $20/hr job based on hours and skills req/used.

Hey all, just to clarify, this is an unpaid internship (as most are for students), not a staff position or part-time hire. Originally it was fully unpaid, but we were able to justify a small stipend with our board, which is where that quantity comes from. We're aware of the difficulties of living in Seattle, but we're a lean nonprofit and don't have the ability to pay more, regardless of how much we'd prefer to.

However, most internships don't ask for 40 hours a week on top of schoolwork for virtually no pay. I understand that Evergreen is unable to pay more, but if that is the case, they should have a less strict time commitment. I'm a journalism student at UW, and I would love to work with Evergreen, and I've lobbied in Olympia with you guys in the past, but 40 hours is just not feasible, unfortunately.

@visser62: Totally agree with you! That 40 hours a week is not strict. A lot of the programs in the area require a full-time internship for a quarter. So we simply based it off just that, 40 hours a week for 10 weeks. If your program doesn't require that and you're looking for something else we are more than willing to work with you.

@EvergreenBryan: I appreciate you coming on here and clearing the air. It certainly helps to have the context.

Evergreen is awesome and I work with them fairly often but seriously? $500 bucks?

That would barely even cover my gas, much less anything else.

it sounds like they want an indentured cyber servant and just below the pittance is a link to the $3000 wood ramp for dentists. MTB yr Hilarious.
  • 4 1
Evergreen is rad! They do so much for the local trails.
  • 3 0
so only the wealthy or kids who live at home can apply?

  • 1 1
