Marzocchi Corsa - Cross Country weapon in Bolognese sauce!

Jul 10, 2008
by Tyler Maine
The 2009 Marzocchi line is launched and the new models will soon hit the market. For XC riders the Corsa will be the best choice thanks to the all new design and the excellent weight-performance ratio. The all new Marzocchi Corsa 2009 will be the secret weapon for the next season cross country racers! The all new design inspired by the high performing 44 offers a 25 % stiffer chassis compared with the ’08 model with an overall performance increase thanks to the new hydraulics and the new bushing system with a more precise tolerance between the parts and the grease foam ring placed under the dust seals to prevent friction. Three Corsa models will be available for next season all with 100 mm of travel and an optimized weight ratio that will make the package even more interesting: Corsa 100, Corsa TST2 and Corsa LT.

In order to achieve the extraordinary weight of 1590 gr the top version Corsa Cento features a completely redesigned SFA (Single Function Air) system that allow to adjust the positive and the negative air chamber with one single valve positioned on the bottom of the right leg. Compression progressiveness will be controlled automatically since the third air chamber is no longer tunable by the customer. This new system wants to offer an easier way to tune the fork by the end consumer without sacrificing the overall performance. Dedicated to the Cross country racers the Corsa Cento will be offered with Nickel coated stanchions and the new Remote Lock Out Control, faster and more precise, that can match all the cockpit systems available on the market thanks to the small and light bracelet. The weight of the new remote is less then 90 grams with cable and housing in full length, this brings the total weight of the Corsa Cento to a competitive 1690 grams for the best performing cross country weapon Marzocchi ever made.

The Compression control goes from fully open to lock out, but the Micro adjuster knob gives the rider the chance to adjust the lock out force: a sort of pedal platform for the climbing sections or a more precise control of the compression on rough terrain. More all round oriented the Corsa TST2, with anodized 32 mm alloy stanchions, the air preload and the easy to use TST compression control system that goes click by click to fully open to fully closed.

The lowers are post mount disc compatible for 6, 7 and 8” rotors like all the Corsa lowers, but like the Corsa LT it matches v-brake levers too! Pocket friendly the Corsa LT is the entry level of the Corsa family. Offered in aftermarket in pearl white color like the top version, the LT uses the 2008 crown and lowers combined with the air preload and the bomb proof TST 5 with remote control and the five position controlled compression. The Corsa line shows the Marzocchi commitment to Cross Country excellence in order to compete and win the most challenging race in the world: Corsa is the Marathon World Cup Champion with Thomas Ditsch and the Team Bianchi.

Good call, but 1690g for a XC fork is pretty damn wicked

kinda heavy for a xc fork, or?

Not very light. My RS Reba SL (which is cheaper) weighs 1610g and thats not even very light.

Last I heard from marzocchi (after sending my '08 05 ATA2 off for the third time!!) they had a redesigned rebound valve almost ready for shipment. I can only assume they will be fitting it to the new 09 models to fix the problem.

I dont know about you, but I bought a brand new pair of 160mm Marzocchi forks, and 3 days later I hit a jump, I only got about 10 feet of air adn then when I landed I put both forks through their casing into the ground, and wiped out pretty hard.

"High performing 44"??? That hasn't even been released to the public yet. How can we know whether its good or down right sucks?
  • 1 1
That is a good point, but I'm taking it that from their stand point and the results they've gathered from team riders and the media that the 44 was the right platform to be working off of.
