Press Release: Rob Warner

A wild new colorway for a wild kind of guy - The Alleycat in Grey Leopard print has been created in limited numbers in collaboration with the voice of downhill Rob Warner.

Featuring everything that makes the Alleycat the most in-demand set of trail glasses right now, including two ZEISS lenses with every set, one industry-leading low light, and one sun lens of your choice.

The Alleycat is made in Italy from Hyperflex TR90, and has been widely praised as one of the best venting, highest coverage set of riding glasses on the market. Every set comes with a microfibre bag and a hard case for keeping them well protected between rides.

Like all Melon eyewear, the Alleycat is customisable by you, choose any frame, icon, nose piece and sun lens combo of your choice to create a pair of trail glasses that is unique to you.

The Alleycat Trail can be purchased via the Melon website with global shipping for £120/€135/$150.

@Arepiscopo: hahaha. All kidding aside, Melon optics make some quality stuff. Color choices... That's subjective.

Matching chihuahua carrying tote purse should be released in time for spring riding.

@snl1200: Should they ask to speak to the manager? Are we not allowed to speak to her or her children ever again?

Rob Warner is a national treasure and part of the fabric of WC DH racing, but a style icon he ain't. Let me know when he releases a signature hair dye though.

 He's doing a co-brand with Rudy Giuliani.

 Yea agree.
Loved it when he decided to look like nigel mansell for a bit (but then ditched that quick after one season)

They must have missed Rob's idea to integrate a roach clip. Would have been a real seller...

Too big , too loud, too expensive. Pick all 3 of 3. I would love to see sales numbers on these things ( all brands) in general. I only seem to see them on sponsored ryder who dont pay for them....but somebody must be liking and buyign them or they wouldn't keep rolling them out? I dont see any practical reason for the size, I would think the " extra" protection would come at the expense of proper airflow to not fog up in the shoulder seasons. My regulars are easily 1/3 that size and can;t remember the last time I got dirt in the eye or a brach poking under them. Also haven't picked up any hot chicks at the trailside recently....maybe need to try them out I am sure that is my problem....

yeah the trend of huge riding glasses is just that, a trend. The Smith Wildcat is the best example. Literally just a sweat and fog magnet with the huge lens style.

I have been riding since 1994 and have yet to find a pair of riding glasses that don't fog up after 20 minutes and try to kill me. Does anyone know of a pair that does not fog up?
  • 3 1
Yep, they are called “rrp proguards”

Milwaukee fog free military grade double wall lens at home Depot about 30 bucks

Coasta Del Mar sunglasses are what I use. No issues.

Using Blitz glasses. Never got up while moving. Good loss light lens. Can go clear also. Almost look like these melon thingies... Really big

 Rad8 MTB Glasses are excellent

Ryders Roam Fyre are awesome and don't fog as long as you keep moving

@Richt2000: yup, good mudguards = best chance of not getting blinded. I do actually own these glasses, they are more of a google alternative for full facer ring for me... there again... style sense is not my strong point.

They're called goggles and they are a godsend.

I use Pit Vipers and I have to say that despite they are pretty loud they are also great glasses - light, customizable lenght and angle and thanks to being rather large there is nice distance beetween face and them, so they do not fog up. I often use them instead of goggles.

You could also save that ridiculous amount of money, go buy some beer and get just as drunk as Rob Warner on world cup weekend.

one of few brands not owned by the Luxxotica sunglasses monopoly. Hope this company does well!!

Funny how they got started on kickstarter claiming that sunnies and goggles brands were ripping you off. A few years later... they sell their stuff at the same price as everyone else, but direct to consumer to make even more money!

I’m not sure if my anecdote is relevant to these glasses or not but I had a pair of Rob Warner’s bear trap pedals back in the late 90’s / early 00’s and I won’t be doing that again, still have limited ankle movement thanks to a cut Achilles heel.

No ! not that. enough with the '80
  • 3 1
Why do their sunglasses cost more than their goggles?
  • 1 0
was looking for Zeiss lenses that weren't overpriced and ugly (ahem.. POC). these look siiick.
  • 1 0
I guess they designed whilst wasted too.
  • 1 0
Are their glasses any good? I think they’re not very popular in the US.
  • 2 1
I'm on my second pair of glasses and goggles, for the price they are fantastic. I belive I bought my first set in 2016. The lenses on my current glasses have delaminated over time, resulting in horizontal lines between layers. Not noticeable while in use, but something to be aware of. The goggle lenses are nothing special, but the frame and strap are better than the cheapo fox google I had before. I have not tried premium Google from Smith, 100%, etc.., but I doubt that doubling the price will double performance for me.
  • 1 0
@pbullard2017: I think the opposite. The frame is nothing special, might be because personal fit though cause there are frames that fit my face better, but the lenses are excellent. The mirror lenses are especially good in low light versus some other glasses that i owned.
