Details are still scarce, but Commencal did release these photos of their upcoming shorter travel 29er, the Meta TR 29. Full specs and pricing have yet to be announced - in the meantime, feel free to stare and speculate.
The British (Racing Green) Edition is a taste of what's to come with our complete new range of shorter travel 29" trail bikes!
@upchuckyeager Do you suppose anyone makes a rack that will allow me to haul this around on my BR Green Spitfire? Seems like something that needs to happen.
You do know why it is called British Racing Green, don't you? Because all the British race cars wanted to hide in the bushes while being lapped by Italian, French, and German cars.
@jakewashere: I think you’ll find British cars had extremely buoyant beginnings. We (as in the British, or more to the point the South of England) have the two oldest race tracks of all time. We invented it! (Like cricket, Rugby, Football and many others!) the early days were the glory days!
@jakewashere: McLaren? Lotus? British companies were responsible for some of the greatest F1 and road cars of all time... The F1 obliterated it’s Italian and German competition for years. Even the half assed XJ220 gave the F40 a serious run for its money.
@ninjatarian: Yup. @jakewashere, I'm guessing you don't know much about cars? The Brits have some awesome cars. (McLaren, Aston Martin, etc. anyone?) Please, feel free to send me a list of French supercars (besides the Bugatti, which I will count, but is owned by a German company.) Try it. I can think of one other: the Genty Akylone, which was just revealed and not being made yet, so sort of iffy. Meanwhile, notice how the McLaren 720S (for example) obliterates most others in its class, including such "Italian [...] and German cars" as more expensive Ferraris, Lambos, Audis, etc. Please note that I'm not trying to bash certain supercars, or the French; I love the Bugattis and Alkylone concept, and will fight anyone trying to bash supercars. That's just what I'm doing. You're bashing British race cars. Not cool.
This bike isn't really British racing green though is it? More like a green chrome by the look of it. Fancy paint finishes hadn't been invented in the glory days of BRG. Speaking of great British racing cars. Present day, pretty much 80% of the F1 grid is British, regardless of what badge any of them have.
@mtbikeaddict: Do you know french got the first turbo? Have you heard abouth Renault? Have you seen a Peugeot...did you know a lot of Nissan technology came from them. And what abouth the glorious CV2 from Citroen...Ugly but funny...
British cars of the past bashed themselves, so I’m just a messenger. That joke was told to me by a Jaguar mechanic while we stood watching the wiring on a customer’s car continue to smoke without rhyme or reason. The other Jags were in the shop for the... well, we lost count of the number of times for similarly fun to laugh at and impossible to fix reasons. He drove a Porsche and the rest of the guys drove Audis. And in the end, it’s a joke. Relax.@mtbikeaddict:
@jakewashere: indeed, but to drive? An Audi has about as much charisma and charm as the turd I’m currently laying. An air cooled Porsche is alright, but besides that, BORING!
@erubio: Modern, fast, attractive cars? Citroen has what, the Survolt? It's a concept; one exists. Renault, ok, good racing. Peugeot, I wish I could say better, but review the first question in this post. *Disclaimer: I know a decent amount about cars, but I'm starting to get into territory that I don't know tons about, so I could be wrong. Please correct me. I just enjoy talking about cars, debates, and PB comments* @jakewashere yeah, maybe I took you a bit too seriously. But can't you meet me partway and have a discussion?
@jakewashere: Nice! Now if u could just hide the commencal logos that would look even sweeter! Big ass logo on the down tube and one on the chainstay is just wayyyy too much!
@erubio: 100% the french have great race cars... they had to change the rules in rally because the Renault 5 was too beast... and the Peugot 405 held the pikes peak hillclimb for a while...watch: www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvXSXfL4XRc and then the 208 wit Seb Loeb...
@eriksaun: yes they did indeed , the likes of Delage, Talbot etc were exquisite in their day. Even until the 90’s they had some track heritage too, with Venturi’s Doing alright at Le Mans.
Although I must say, at first sight that bend in the seat tube made it look like the rear of that bike was about to buckle/fold/collapse/implode. I'm sure it's fine though.... Who cares, when it looks that good... That green... $$$
SA looks a bit slack, beside that it's totally awesome! Another site says it's 150/140mm with 66.5 HA Hope prices will be similar to the smaller wheeled version, this colour is great!
Extremely nice looking, like more and more often with Commençal lastly, and this racing green color is simply delicious....... Excited to know the specs and geometry of that beautiful thing....
I wish it were that simple. My heels turn in slightly and i have my cleats aligned to allow for this. If my feet were dead straight whilst pedaling my knees would be destroyed. Just my physiology.
Looking at the pics i don't see a bend in the seatstays to allow for additional heal clearance and that linkage dictates that the stays stick pretty far out. Now i'm relying on reviews and forum comments when i say many riders have had issue with this and for me it's a deal breaker IF it's an issue. It might not be though so I'd love to see one live.
Yes please! I'd like an extra-large, to-go, with extra tire inserts. That green makes me want my green less. That bike is beautiful! SHADDUP AND TAKE MY MONEY!
@n1ck: purist single pivot (Orange, Morewood, et al) and linkage drive single pivots (Commencal, Kona) are different animals imho. Both can work very well.
@n1ck: Chillax. I was just echoing bman33. It was a freakin JOKE. I don't care what version of a Horst link you're envisioning, and whether that resembles a Stumpy, Demo, Session, Patrol, or whatever else. I was joking about the recent endemic of "Looks like a Session" on virtually every article. Stop being a snob. The Horst ain't the Holy Grail, 'cause there isn't one! Commencal's continuing to provide quality bikes at a low price. Waaah. Good for them.
Because it's time demanding, budget demanding, labor demanding, and damn hard to make it just right. It's not just sticking cf cloth soaked in resin into a mold. Some do that, but you don't wanna buy such frame. You have to get research lab, and do some proper research, because cloth thickness, layout, fiber alignment and many more thing matter. Alloy is way easier to work with, cheaper, more environment friendly and less labor demanding. I don't even know why you would want a carbon frame for anything that isn't xc racing.

Cunning indeed!
I want a Renault Alpine A110....and always will.

For clipless you won't clip your heels at all (because the pedals keep your feet positioned away from the stays).

Does Commencal attend Outerbike?
