If they want to sell any tires they really need to start spending some marketing dollars. Why would anyone try something basically unknown when tires from schwalbe/maxxis are known to be some of the best.
probably you weren't born yet but, there was a time that every single athlete in the world xc chamionship was on the wildgrippers comp s and most of the DH athletes were running the hot s red tires and schwalbe was making grippy quick worn out condoms!
I am lucky enough to live close to Michelin US headquarters and was on a team of riders sponsored locally during their DH prowess. They made an incredible rubber compound (in France) and the only tire that would seal on tubeless ready rims for years.
Then higher ups lost interest in MTB and moved production to Asia. Interest is coming back around and the guys in the US bike division are very passionate. Would love to run their stuff again once the product line is back up and running full speed.
Marketing aside, been using their Wild Grip'r 2 and Wild Rock'r 2 both in the Advanced Reinforced casing for a year now. Those tires are the truth. With design input from Barel (past), Nico and now Jerome they must be doing something right.
I've run their wild grip'r 2 and wild race'r 2 and both have been excellent. Best Tires I've ever run tubeless, they would only lose 1-2 psi during the course of a weeks riding. I'm going to buy another wild grip'r 2 and wild rock'r 2 to run on my new Mojo HD3 when it comes in. Did I mention how cheap they are on ChainReaction?
Well, I know they are at the low-end spectrum but the country trail are an horrific wet tyre, although in dry it's ok and they last longer than brocoli in a cantine school. For learning the hard way how to do when you lock your front tyre or when you suddenly start skidding in mud, they are the perfect
just bought a wild grip r 2 foldable for £18 from CRC to put on my full sus which I'm selling soon so didn't want to spend too much going to forest of dean week end .see how it works ( how bad can it be ? )
why did michelin stop with their marketing?
Btw, Michelin originally started over 100 years ago (or something), making bicycle tires.
