The trail fairies have been super busy this week up at Moelfre, just one hour West of Birmingham in the heart of Wales. Current UCI World Champion Steve Peat is confirmed as is last weekend's World Cup winner Marc Beaumont.
Parking, camping and spectating is free so follow me to see what's install...
Unparalleled views of the glorious Welsh countryside
Fancy watching 330 of the U.K.'s finest Downhill Racers next weekend? Round 4 of the Halo British Downhill Series rolls into town on the 6th and 7th of August 2010. With a packed field of riders and trade, team pits, Monster Energy in the house and the legendary Farmer Jack on hand all weekend, you are in for a treat.

The track is 100% open, with only one tree on the course the average speed down this course matches that of the Cresta Run. Originally designed and built by Dan and Gee Atherton we have followed their noses and added several big berms and jumps. Up top we have implanted a huge, car sized kicker with a huge, loose gravelly landing over 32feet away. New corners in the switchbacks and a few diversions with one hell of a finish section.
Three massive whoops in a huge rhythm section, massive berm into a kicker and a carved out berm in the rock face. Enough? No way... Two more massive berms, dusted with concrete powder and a step down into the stream followed by a 200 meter finish straight more reminicent of the London Flora Marathon!

Have we whet your appetite? Then you will definitely need directions, follow the signs to the race, though don't use your SatNav as Moelfre Hall where the race is, postcode doesn't actually work: SY10 7QJ. Perhaps follow your nose just 10 minutes west of Oswestry near Llansilin along the B4580, past the Old Race Course, through Rhydycroesau and finally into Llansilin. Turn right at the 4x4 garage and after one mile turn a sharp right.
