The points system does not reflect the name of the event. It's Speed AND Style not Speed OR Style. There needs to be deductions for straight airs otherwise just call it dual slalom. Kyle can beat all those guys on speed too, but that's not what the event is about. Make some changes Crankworx!

To my knowledge this is one of the first times someone has one going for just all out speed and no tricks... Most of the time the winner has some pretty decent tricks. So just because one time someone won going for all out speed doesn't mean it's a bad event. Last year everyone was complaining because the people with the biggest tricks and not necessarily the most stylish were winning the jumps. I guess people just need something to complain about.

How does a backflip score less than a tail whip. Judges were a little off. They should have gave a trick score to Casey as well...even though she just whipped it out and got bigger air at least she wasn't just going for speed.

Totally agree, Kyle's tricks should have won him the event, otherwise, its just like doing tricks in a regular dual slalom event.

Is it just me or is the point system a little bit floored. If one guy just guns it and wins by over 2 seconds there's no way for the other guy to win.

Same complaint every year and i agree. When the riders start complaining it'll change I guess? Or we'll just get dual slalom with ladder drops.

I don't normally disagree with judging or how the rules work for a particular event work, but I agree with the users in here, Kyle was robbed big time. He looked equally as fast as his competitor though the slalom section on his final run, but went huge and threw down some really big tricks! Keep on trucking Kyle!

I know this is Speed/Style. But man...I wish the powers that be would bring back full on Dual Slalom for World Cups and at the national level. I know there are a few scattered races here and there but....

+1. Same for four cross races. They were so much fun. Competing against other riders is so much for fun than a clocked time lap alone (downhill)

I really enjoy both. However, DS is a 1) a great crowd pleaser and 2) provides head-to-head racing.

This wasnt fair that the guys not throwing down tricks were beating out the guys that were, simply based off of speed alone. It was too easy to get a 2 second gap on an opponent and there was no way to get 200 points on two jumps. The riders that didnt trick should lose points for it. Also wish soderstrom didnt slide out on that first match up of his. He has a lot of talent and would have liked to see how it went.

Ok the clock should stop on the huge trickable jumps then start again on the landing, then the tricks are factored in at the end. That way style is more of a factor but you still have to race hard.

finally, there is lots of doubles, triples... on this track, not only the 2 sponsored ramps. There could be style there! But it doesn't count. Remember the guy who xup the wall @ crankworx les deux alpes? No point, nothing, not a sponsored jump.
So the name of this event for me is definitely:
Speed Or Tricks.
