After a bad weather front, the third round of the Montenbaik Enduro Series, was one of the most special races, because of the great grip on tracks, so the riders enjoyed a lot this conditions.
Days before this race, the rain started on Wednesday to Friday night, on Saturday the rain wasn't present, but on Sunday morning a couple of drops scared mora than one rider.
After the rain, the soil moistened by it made the trails perfect for riding and having more grip or traction on race.
Thank you rain.
"Curacaví" is near Santiago de Chile, in the "Región Metropolitana", and was maybe the cause to break the record of assistance in a Montenbaik championship, with 480 enrolled, not counting the 100 children, so it's the race with more riders until now.
On Saturday morning it was the "Enduro Kids" where the mini riders enjoyed the trails and lines with his parents and family. Definitely a great initiative that will be massified.
The categories were divided as:
"Push Bike" (no pedals bikes) 4 years old.
"Kids 1" between 5 to 6 years old
"Kids 2" between 7 to 8 years old
"Kids 3" from 9 to 10 years old
And finally "Super Kids" from 11 to 13 years old.
Well, nobody wanted to miss this magnificent event, with trails perfectly prepared and designed to enjoy the MTB, where the riders only wanted to ride and ride.
The race was developed in "Fundo los Capachos" with five Special Test (S.T.), all very difficult and technical, going from lower to higher elevation, following the altimetry shown in the previous photo, adding a competitive tour of 21.7kms for Enduro1 and 14.7 for Enduro2.
It's time to climb the hill and start a day full of adrenaline. The first special "S.T. Capatonga" was the most difficult with 3.5kms in length. The fastest time was 6:44.54 min. Then you had to climb the same link and get to the second longest circuit "S.T. Espejo XL" of 2.3km length.
Quickly we go to the third special, one of the best lines, very fast, safe and with a lot of curves, making more fun the descent by the conditions of the track.
The lines passed from small forests in the high part of the mountain to the end of the circuit, where there were roots of less difficult.
Another point to consider (and that describes the race completely) is the "slopping" or better said inclined slopes. The technique to overcome these obstacles, is not to use the rear brake completely, so you dont drift the rear wheel and giving the 80% of leadership to the front brake, so you can slow down if is necessary.
"S.T. Las Turcas" the fourth special of the day, had a very nice jump at the end of the track, which crossed the road where the riders climbed the hill, giving a nice view for the public present.
The race finished in "S.T. Escalones" a short circuit of 0.8km of length, but very fast and funny.
Maybe not much people saw it, but some places were full of thorns of different kinds. The most dangerous are cactus because their thorns can damage your shoes, your body (intense pain) and worst, your bike LOL
So I think falling there wouldn't be funny.
After midday, the sky started to open, giving us a little sun that slightly warmed the hill.
One of the victims of inclined slopes.
"See you at the hill! See you at Curaca!" Running his first time in this championship, German Wehrhahn is one of the surprises in this race. "The circuits were amazing and I don't know if my time was good or bad (41st) but it was a great time and nobody can change that,to" he said.
At the end, Nicolás Prudencio gets the 11th place with 18:54.75 min.
With technical problems, Pedro Donoso reaches the goal with a time of 20:45.44 min.
Gustavo "Guga" Ortíz in the 9th position with a time of 18:42.00 min.
Arriving at the podium in manual, Antonio Leiva, from the team Extreme Zone, gets the first place in category Master A, with a time of 18:40.54 min.
Florencia Espiñeira from the team Trek Subaru, wins the five special test of the race, demonstrating she is the faster woman of the day.
Simply, like the photo, the first place is for Felipe Vial, getting a time of 17:45.46 min, followed by Meliciades "Micha" Jaque (18:00.01 min) and Pedro Ferreira (18:10.51 min), three great riders who fought side by side to win this race.
