From the developers "This is a mobile downhill biking game called Flow Downhill set to release in 2015. We are at the early stages of development, but wanted to get the excitement and interest started early."
They had me stoked/sold until I read "Mobile". That's unfortunate.
When will anyone make another fully realized Mountain biking game for PC/Consoles? Something like Downhill Domination or along the lines of SKATE would be welcome. Even if it's just a small sort of game.. put it on PSN, Xbox Live or Steam for the rest to enjoy.
I was playing a good MTB game on PC a while back. it was called MTB Freeride. Although its not DH or anything, its pretty fun to play.
Check it out on Desura
I have a working design document for such a game if someone wants to pay me some royalties and build it. 21 pages of material including detailed outline of the trick controls (skate inspired) and game world layout, game objectives etc.
I have Thundah, I really like it actually. Even if it is a little rough around the edges. I was hoping it would make its way onto Steams Greenlight as it has been stuck in the Concept stage for what seems like an eternity.
I would love an open world style game like SKATE, where there were different types of bike, and you could select which frame, and possibly a few general components for the bike, then ride it around. It would be sick to be able to grab the DJ and take it out to dirt jumps or a skate park or something, before switching to a DH bike and riding from the top of a mountain, like you could do on the roads in SKATE. If you wanted to ride around the city, you could select the bmx, and use that, or if you wanted, you could stay on the DH bike and ride that.
Exactly what I was thinking. Then at the end when you become pro you could do the rampage or something. I love the idea of changing bikes. I think heaps of different brands would be amazing not just for bikes but for the clothing etc you get have normal street wear for when you DJ or ride on the street then get cool gear on for DH and stuff. Who makes skate is it EA????
SKATE was made by a Burnaby company known as BlackBox which are now under EA Games Canada, I believe. Send all MTB requests to them. Maybe something will happen.
Let's get a petition going. And maybe get pinkbike to sponsor it. Can I be one of the ramdom riders that ride around and you can race against and talk to??
There is a possibility of having a PC/console version as well. Since we are a small company, it is more realistic to aim for mobile, since creating all of the graphics that a console/PC could handle is too much work at this stage. With the right funding, the options are endless. We appreciate all of the feedback..thanks!
@loloTHUNDAH mtb freeride was a cool project but damn that game is impossible to play! to top that off @epavichthesavage EA burned blackbox off after they finished skate 3 and killled the skate franchise along with it so thats unfortunately a dead end i suppose starting small on mobile is good affordable way to gain userbase and see if your concept works, but a full hd realistic (console/pc) version of this game could go SOOOO far!!! best of luck to @hen7 and your cohorts to get this off to a good start!!
GTA IV is the answer. It's on whatever platform you like, has mountain biking PLUS hookers, drugs, fast cars, violence, conspiracies, weapons, etc. etc. etc. and is f*cking brilliantly executed!! I even think you can dress up Trevor with one of those very snazzy "enduro" fanny packs
I know how to make nice looking 3D games, if there were enough interest i'd be willing to make one. Just not really bothered if only 100 people are going to buy it. If it got up to something more like 1,000-2,000 i'd be much more considering
Nygaard I think you mean GTA V. It's super addicting but would be better if they had bikes like Downhill Domination and some kind of mod for building steeper jumps. I have yet to see a MTB game where you could do tailwhips like on a bmx game. MTB Extreme even had gears and much better braking but pussy airs and few tricks. They should at least have Enduro, Slopestyle, Big Mountain Freeride and DH. Incorporating real tracks and riders like megavalanche, crankworx, Rampage and Meribel. DD had great bike controls but the maps were very linear and unrealistic. I'm kinda glad they don't though cause even though video games are some good methadone for when you can't ride, most times I'm sidelined with wrist injuries and mashing buttons doesn't help. Maybe if they invent a peripheral you could attach to your real bike on a spin trainer that could tell when you pedalled, steered and shifted your body weight. They better have them by the time I go to the nursing home or I'll be going on food strike and pooping my nappy until they do.
To peanutbuter: 'Cause flooding, deep snow, perhaps nowhere to ride/ cost of traveling, or injuries, to name some. A game would be good for those instances.
Mhoshal yes man! I'd hoped someone knew of it I'm so tempted get a ps2 again just for that it was so unrealistic trick and size of the jumps but it was sooooooooo good! It even featured legends like Richie Schley, Brian Lopes and Missy 'the missile' Giove!
A company called rise is currently making a game called, 'BMX The Game' that will be coming to consoles and PC and It looks pretty cool. (They funded it with KickStarter) Maybe when they're done they could make a awesome Downhill/Freeride/Slope game!
They should start by not using a snowboard game engine and make one exclusive to the handling and characteristics of mtb. The ohysics is all off... loos good for mobile though.
I would like an MTB game for consoles with the flow of the SSX Tricky games, the technicality of the Tony Hawk games, and the open world design of GTA and other snow oriented games. If Redbull/Pinkbike got behind it and we got some Crankworx courses thrown in, I think they would make a killing, I know I'd pay up to $50 for a decent game! Let's get EA on this!
you should put it on that website where people support and donate money to the building of your product can't remember what it's called Kickstarter or something like that
Well you can't ride all day, might as well continue the fun afterwards or at work. And like it has been said before, Winter really sucks for biking. Never understood why people are screaming at others to "grow up" or "go outside". Kind of silly, honestly.
Seriously, anyone who has been off the bike for weeks at time due to injury knows that video games are a surefire way to stay sane! MX vs ATV Reflex kept me going when I was down, throw fat moto whips all day!
for when your bike/you is broken and you cant ride....i have a broken arm and cant ride bikes for 2-3 months, at least i could get my jollies out in a video game
Hey there, this is the co-developer. I appreciate all the comments on this forum, the good and the bad. This will help us improve our game. However, we cannot replicate the real thing and we would encourage everyone to go and do the real thing so there is no point in stating the obvious, so to all those posters about going out and riding a real bike #Dontbeadick (English sense of humour)
For those that would like a bike game of some sort, we want to engage with the community. We have a number of reason why we are releasing early footage and we want to address some of the issues posted in this forum.
We want to build a game that the community wants. You can help shape it. If mobile is not the right platform, we have to address this and make the game for the appropriate platform. If you all want PC, then we have to give you a PC game. It'll require better graphics and we as developers have to way up the costs involved. Currently, our current prototype has been developed in our spare time whilst we do our normal jobs or contract positions.
It's extremely hard to get in touch with brand manufacturers and get them involved. It takes time, contacts,e-mails and constant e-mails. We need to run this in parallel with the game development as the process needs to be incorporated if it all comes off. Just modelling a 3d bike takes time, then throw in different platforms and it's a huge time consuming task. We currently don't have the funds or time to build them all. Thats the reality.
Hopefully, you can see how passionate we are to make the current prototype, but we can't go any further unless we get "YOU" the community behind us. It's strange that snowboard game are huge, but no mtb games, maybe the snowboard community is bigger and more involved, evolved ?
We need your help, we want you involved, it won't happen without you. Please get in touch to make this game a reality.
In all honestly what we really need is some like the motorcross community has with MXSimulator, a relatively simple (build wise) game that has a massive community behind it. If we can have an open world game that the community could develop both maps, riding kits and bikes it would increase community involvement and reduce the strain on the developers to continually keep up with new bikes and kits coming out every year. I think that a good MTB game on console/PC is a huge untapped market that could have great success
ive started working on something like this in my free time just to see if i could do it but progress is really slow. I'm focusing entirely on getting the bike suspension, braking, and physics down before i even consider touching anything else, and I haven't gotten very far.
this game it seems like they took the opposite approach and focused on getting really nice polished graphics first leaving you with a completely rigid tr 450, but i guess its kind of understandable as its going on mobile.
Im working on one also. I have started making g skins using the unreal engine.. though the end game I plan to write entirely new code that I am c urrentlly working on.
Damn straight early stages.....
Make it like the SKATE series, with some actual rock gardens that can give you flats and you can lose time etc.
A lot of moto games suck too, I don't understand how it can be so hard to make a DH game like SKATE.... probably why I'm not in game development
Yeah imagine if companies like Dice and Black box were to make an MTB game. That would be epic. Imagine A game where there is an open world forest so you can explore and freeride and also events similar to Gran Turismo but it will include Crankworx, Rampage, etc. The physics and gravity system will be similar to skate 3 but implemented on bikes instead. But sadly that will never happen...
I had downhill mtb game for the original playstation with rob warner on his giant on the cover. Game was pretty sweet and you could pull 3's n flips n that. type it in a search engine. Gotta say it looks just as good as this vid... or maybe I have my rose tinted glasses on again...
Once i went over to my little cousins house and he has this game on his wii called wii ski and its free roam skiing you even choose what chairlift to go on and you can sit and watch or skip to the top you can customise your guy go on whatever run and do a bunch of side missions. A mountain bike game like that i would cry with joy
As the developer... Can any brands, riders, resorts, bike parks who want to be involved with this game please contact woo(at)wonkywoogames.co.uk. Generally, anyone who have things they would like to see in the game or on what platform please get in touch. We want to make a game for the community.
To give slightly more info, it's very early prototype (rough n ready) to gain interest from community and trying hard to get people involved. We are a two man team as I previously posted, doing this in our spare time between full time and contact positions. We have AAA pedigree in developing for console games such as Wipeout, F1, ATV, WRC, Motorstorm, PGR and Blur franchises. So if you want a bike game please support us.
Yes, we want to do more tricks. Yes, we do want slope style tracks. Yes, we want real brands.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WTK1IZ0uRc Whips, Nacs, invert tables, nohanders, no footers, no foot cans, nothings, 1080's, double front flips, triple backflips, cashrolls, barhop backflips, super bike flips, manuals, wheelies, endos, deer, bears, hikers, loops speed ups, water bottles, superjump, 4x, freeride, dh, smash up, real bikes, a few real riders, a playable alien, future bikes, NWD clips, just add better graphics, tailwhips, multiplayer and bike tuning please.
But anyway, those of you looking for a good PC DH biking game - get a cheap PS2 copy of Downhill Domination (which has already been mentioned many times I see!) and the latest version of PCSX2 emulator - the game runs pretty much flawlessly and looks so much better - mine's enhanced to 3x the PS2 resolution, with proper hardware-accelerated graphics, and I'm using a PS2 pad via a USB adapter. Ok so not the most realistic, but close enough to feel like you can use your real-world biking knowledge (bunnyhops/sus preload/pumping transitions etc) to do some cool stuff, and most of all it's FUN!
yeah, it will finally come out late this year with. this will be probablůy best FR/DH game out there for long time. Check my vid www.pinkbike.com/video/360170
Yes in the version of my vid (v 0.45) its just first person. Its hard, no doubt, but on other hand its simulator. Its just a metter of time to get in controls. But you can edit almost everything about controls, including forks and shocks rebound. In few weeks theres new 0.5 version out (for free), which should bring new riding model and bike customizing abilities.
So you're telling me I can just sit only ass and not even go outside to go mountain biking this is great! This makes me sad... I don't care about neg props
Was going to say those graphics look like shit, like a cell phone... and then I saw "mobile". How about a full blown xbox/ps game that isn't clunky as shit and has good graphics?
Check this out! www.bikeparkgame.com Its a pretty cool Game, still in a alpha phase, but with a sick mapeditor and a bmx Editor(unfortunately just bmx..) But still a cool Game!
Really thought this was going to be on psn or xbox although it still looks fun on the phones a serious mtb game needs to be brought of for the next gen consoles now
I'd love a Gran Turismo level of MTB game but doubt it will ever happen.
Always wanted a motorbike version of gran turismo too but nothing like that either.
When will anyone make another fully realized Mountain biking game for PC/Consoles?

you can thank me later!.
You can't imagine the limitations you have to work around with mobile/iOS devices.
