PRESS RELEASE: Mountain Creek

We opened our Cabriolet Gondola for bikers last weekend marking the start of our 20th season offering lift-serviced, downhill mountain biking to riders from all around the world. Officially opened in 1999 as Mountain Creek and later as Diablo Freeride Park before re-branding as Mountain Creek Bike Park in 2012, a few things have remained constant... First, is the passion of the mountain bike community that fuels everything. Second, is the surprising punch that our relatively small mountain delivers for riders of all levels. Often mentioned by riders like Aaron Gwin, Richie Rude, Neko Mulally and many others as one of their favorite places in the US to ride and race, we believe Mountain Creek truly is a David among the Mountain Bike Goliaths offering much more than our size and location would lead you to believe.

The Cabriolet Gondola takes riders 1,040 vertical feet above farmlands of the Vernon Valley below

A week of off-and-on rain leading into the opening caused for a wet start to the season and the resort to push back their planned Friday opening for Season Passholders, but that didn't dampen the spirits of the guests who had been anxiously waiting since last November for their chance to get back out on our trails.

Guests starting arriving early on Saturday morning in anticipation of opening day

Our staff making their final preparations in advance of the doors opening

Mountain Creek Bike Park's Hugh Reynolds trying his hardest not to sing some Bruce Springsteen to the crowd gathering at the lift

Game on! These locals snagged the honor of breaking the ribbon on our 20th anniversary season

Domboo was one of the crowd favorite trails for the weekend offering riders some of the most predictable traction they would find on the mountain

Slipping and sliding down the dirt roller coaster on the lower section of Domboo

The rocks offered riders a respite from the mud for those who were up to the challenge

Morpheus Bike's Chad Kelly said he wasn't going to ride on Saturday but the call of the trails was just too strong

Sun and clouds were in an immortal battle leading to some varied conditions throughout the weekend

Alpine is a signature trail for us and runs directly under the lift providing a show for all to see

The future of mountain biking is looking very bright with a strong grom showing for opening weekend

Wet, dry, sun, rain... it doesn't matter. We're still gonna send it.

Mountain Creek is now open Friday - Sunday weekly through June 16th. Daily operations will begin for summer on Monday June 17th. Here's a list of other key dates and events to take note of for this season:

20 th season can't believe it. I've been riding there since the beginning, it's making me feel old.if you've never experienced the creek put it on your bucket list, but you better bring your a game. You'll be surprised how easily this place can kick your ass! Northern New Jersey of all places, it makes me laugh anytime I think about.

I remember as a kid when it was still Vernon Valley. Always loved that place!

Heads up, like half the trails were closed. The back of the mountain was somewhat open. However, the tabletops that were there were sharp. You can enjoy them before they decay. It is good for about a half day as it stands.

Yes, we have 13 of our 53 trails currently closed to protect them while they dry out. Still plenty of options to enjoy.
