Can A 10 Second Track Be Fun? Olly and I wanted to see what kind of video we could make from this 10 second gully. We ended up getting some cool shots!

Highway 395 Revisited: The Eastern Sierras called out for a end-of-Summer road trip, so myself, Chris McNally and Moi Medina headed out of Los Angeles to score a few final trail days just as the first snows were dropping. Growing up on the legends of the Kamikaze Downhill, and the Sierra 7500' mountain bike races I was fascinated to learn that before the Kamikaze hit the slopes of Mammoth Mountain, it lived for two years South and across the valley on White Mountain. The race ran from the area known as Sherman Grove, and dropped 6,000' along Silver Canyon Road. As a pilgrimage we went out and rode the area, not following the old tracks exactly, but exploring the mountains and vibe which inspired the early days of mountain biking.

GT in LA: Kachinsky, Jeremiah Smith, and Rob Wise visit LA.

Kink BMX Team In Argentina! Follow the squad in Argentina through Buenos Aires and Rosario, stacking clips, and taking in the good vibes of the great country! Riders: Sean Sexton, Travis Hughes, Casey Starling, and Agustin Gutierrez.

Chris Cole's Never Been Done - A History of NBDs: NBDs are the benchmark of skateboarding. From his earliest parts 'til now, Chris Cole has logged more than just about anyone. Take a walk down memory lane with the DC team and revisit some of Cole's most memorable Never Been Done tricks throughout his career.

Classics - Chris Cole "Dying to Live" Cole's legendary ability to stomp down and ride away from almost any trick he wanted became clear with this part. Jamie Thomas introduces a classic Zero part from 2002.

Shaun White -The Guy who Raised the Bar in Snowboarding: Double Olympic snowboarding champion Shaun White is making a difference to people through his inspirational charity work.

The Burrrlapz - Road Trip and Stuff, A Telenovela: Drive far, break your car. Turns out old Megs only had a few hundred km left on 'er, but you know what they say, "sometimes your truck explodes and you leave it in Golden." Other than seizing engines we also drove sleds, drank beers, fell off cliffs, and didn't make any avalanches. So we're stoked.

Kilian: Kilian Jornet is considered the greatest mountain runner ever. But he doesn't consider himself a runner. Join Kilian in his new backyard in Norway as he attempts to ski and run in a single day the Seven Summits of Romsdalen, a 77km route with 9000m of elevation gain.

Sea Of Miracles: There has been consistent, galvanized resistance to a proposed nuclear power plant in Kaminoseki, Japan. Patagonia grantee and activist Midori Takashima, founder of the Kaminoseki Nature Conservation Association–along with fishermen and farmers who have been actively protesting for 35 years–continues to fight against the proposed construction.

Mining for Nugs - Some of the rad photos Kirt and I got while filming for the Niner bikes video.

I am an experienced chemical and nuclear engineer. I come here for biking, and not for discussions on engineering, but I must put in 2 cents here. Yes, I agree that particular location may not be the best place for a nuclear power plant, but there were a lot of false things in that video. The disaster did not occur because of a single pipe the size of a thumb breaking, not even close. It happened because every backup they had in place was also taken out by a massive wave, including the diesel generators designed to run the plant in case of power failure, and redundant cooling systems. It was a very poor placement of a power plant, with an insufficient tsunami wall. Oh, and that explosion was from hydrogen gas being formed on the surface of super hot zirconium cladding, it wasn't a nuclear explosion (you'd know if it was a nuclear explosion...).
That day in Japan was a terrible disaster because 16000 people died from a massive tsunami, and there also happened to be several injured and 2 killed inside of a nuclear power plant that had a massive failure. But don't forget about the 16000 because they died from water, and the word radiation is scarier than the word water.
The WHO released an official statement afterwards that they did not expect leukemia or birth defect rates to increase at all as a result of the radiation release. And I know the people who flew the planes and were on the ground measuring the radiation rates. The release was equivalent to about a chest x-ray. That's not great, but it didn't kill people like the news said. Nor is anyone in any part of the world affected in any way by "irradiated fish".
Don't get me wrong, it was a terrible disaster, but we can avoid those by being smarter in the future. Next generation nuclear reactors don't have the cooling system vulnerabilities of the very old design used in Fukushima. And, nuclear power could prevent millions of deaths from pollution every year if we would adopt it more widely, in conjunction with solar and wind.

my apologies, now back to biking...

As I've heard from someone in the field, is it true that they were initially trying to solve the powerplant somehow because it is owned by private company, while the proper way of preventing explosion would be to completely flood the reactor building again, which would also irreversibly destroy it... and owners don't like to see their billion dollar investment thrown away. Just curious if you heard anything about this?
