2016 Vibes - At Home with Simon Karrer: Between travelling to FMB events and dodging bad weather to get some riding in, Simon has been on the road a lot this season. It was good to get some filming in at home with Simon in his backyard spot and Kamloops BC, a popular spot when the Northern BC weather isn't exactly ideal for riding.
Scotty's Sacred Ride: Scott Thornhill devoted most of his 2016 season to building this bike park. Working two jobs, he spent all of his spare time and money towards this project. Because of insurance issues, the jumps had to be taken down. We managed to film this project together while they were still standing.
Home Trails With Pich: Pich embodies the pure spirit of mountain biking. World Cup downhiller, Enduro World Series competitor, winner of the Megavalanche in Alpe d’Huez, he’s a true all-rounder. Relentlessly enthusiastic. In between competitions and travelling the world, whenever he finds the time, he returns to his native Vosges where he takes time to relax. Here, he invited us to his local playground!
4TWEENY2016: One of the best parties of the year complete with a local band aptly named "Bush Party" combined with the most hungover riding on the steepest riding around, could you ask for more? Dedicated to our furry friend Kazu who lived one of the best lives a dog could live from chute lines at Farwell to shredding powder lines in the backcountry. Miss you Kaz!

This piece includes interviews with the team, Chin Ramp builder Tim Payne, and photographer Grant Brittain, alongside several well-known pro skaters who were hugely influenced by the climactic scene in The Search for Animal Chin. Watch your favorite skaters rip the iconic ramp again, inspiring each other not only to recreate some of the timeless moments captured in the video from which it takes its name but to push each other to new heights as they continue the search for Animal Chin.
DAYUMM! Last winter Sage Kotsenburg and Halldor Helgason got together to make a snowboard movie that would not only push the level of each others riding but also showcase snowboarding in a way they both believe in. You’ll see everything from technical tricks to some of the most creative features to date and all while having as much fun as possible!
The Fourth Phase with Travis Rice - Ep. 3 JAPAN: Peaks, Pillows & Pow: In this third episode, Travis and longtime partner-in-crime Mark Landvik push the boundaries of the Japanese Alps on huge pillow lines as they chase the notoriously deep powder of this supernatural country. Mark’s sense of humor shines brightly bringing out the lighter side of Travis – and unveils a friendship built on decades of missions in the backcountry.
Guilt Trip - Trailer - Salomon TV: The only thing greater than this group of skier's desire to claim a first ski descent on Greenland's second highest peak is the size of their carbon footprint to get there. Loaded with guilt, they decide to bring along renowned glaciologist, Alun Hubbard, who’s scientific hypothesis, if proven, could rewrite popular projections of global sea-level rise. However, the entire expedition is put in question when they arrive in Greenland and discover their objective is beyond the range of all available aircraft.
The Shadow Campaign - Reflections: The woods in winter can often seem like poetry to the senses. Set to spoken word, Reflections is a look at the layered complexities of the introspective process of backcountry skiing.
Before the Flood - Full Movie - National Geographic: Join Leonardo DiCaprio as he explores the topic of climate change, and discovers what must be done today to prevent catastrophic disruption of life on our planet.
Totally agreed. As cyclists, the concepts of balance and sustainability is at core of that we do. We should all look to how this can be applied to the things we buy, especially within the cycle industry, the things we eat and the way we travel.
Now we can see what Ratboy was talking about, it makes even more sense now. Respect to the decision he made, I guess it takes some courage to abandon the race life, he seemed to enjoy that a lot.
Does anyone in the movie let Leonardo DiCaprio know that if he were to stop spending his free time on yachts and crossing the planet in private jets he might do more to save the environment than all the regular people he chastises about the way they live their lives?
@SintraFreeride: No matter what you believe, CO2 is absolutely a greenhouse gas. That is a fact, and if you think CO2 is not a greenhouse gas you are absolutely 100% wrong. You provided a chart that goes back 4.6 billion years over the span of a few inches on my screen - of course we aren't going to see the effects of the past ~200 years of humans in the industrial age.
You are arguing against a point that the vast, vast majority of scientists agree on.
@shredteds: The current Climate change argument says that that increasing levels of CO2 in the atmosphere are caused by humans. They claim that this is causing the increase in average temperature of the planet. If we look at the past when a) CO2 levels were higher or lower than today and b) when global average temperature was higher or lower than today we can see that there is NO correlation between high CO2 levels and high temperatures. I do not deny that CO2 levels are increasing today nor that average temperatures are increasing. What I am saying is that CO2 does not lead to an increase in temperature contrary to what the IPCC would have you believe.
@ManyBallsacks: Nothing wrong with questioning things. Do not believe everything you read/hear on TV. Don't take my word on it go look up some data and make up your own mind. Personally I find it offensive that lots of environmental problems have been forgetten or overlooked because all we seem to talk about is climate change. Even car ads now talk about how little CO2 they produce rather than NO2 or SO2. Everyone seems to have forgotten about the Ozone layer, acid rain, nuclear waste, mercury poisoning, overfishing, deforestation, etc.
@bholton: Have watched Cowspiracy and enjoyed it (in so much that I found the subject to be interesting rather than having a feel good effect!). Have to check out the other.
@bholton: If CO2 did in fact cause an increase in global temperature then we would see high CO2 levels in the atmosphere THROUGHOUT geological time outside of ice age periods. This is NOT the case. Also there were times in earth's history when average global temps were much higher than they are today and yet CO2 levels were lower! I do not have enough information on methane to have an opinion on it.
@SintraFreeride: Sorry to interrupt your (with @bholton) conversation, but your statement is incorrect. The claim that an increase in the CO2 levels has resulted in a higher global temperature does not imply that all increases in temperature are a result of higher CO2 levels.
@SintraFreeride yeah you re right, the Koch brothers are right, smoking is good for health, oil industry is good for Earth, and everybody should buy a Tacoma or a f150 ! Trump for president ! #IQ70andproud
@DHryder: We are not debating the grenhouse effect we are debating whether or not increasing CO2 levels in the atmosphere cause global temperature rise.
@SintraFreeride: The fact that you are denying carbon dioxide as a greenhouse gas is simply ridiculous. CO2 is a greenhouse gas, and ever since the industrial revolution we have seen higher and higher concentrations of it in our atmosphere. Yes, CO2 occurs naturally through respiration, but it also is a product of burning fossil fuels. When higher levels of CO2 and other greenhouse gases disrupt the energy exchange of the earth by blocking infrared radiation from leaving our planet, it traps heat, thus increasing our planet's average temperature. There is simply no other explanation. If you look at the milankovitch cycles, we should actually be entering another ice age right now, but instead we are heading in the other direction due predominantly to the addition of human made CO2 into the atmosphere.
@SintraFreeride: Methane is outnumbered by carbon dioxide concentrations in the atmosphere, but its global warming potential is way way higher than carbon dioxide.
@SintraFreeride: oil companies have been using your argument for several dozens of years now. Like tobacco companies, they hired consultants, marketing geniuses, and they funded "objectives" studies to convince people like you, that they aren't the problem. Disinformation campaigns have existed for thousands of years, and they always benefitted to the people orchestrating them (people with economical power)
@zede: The data on CO2 levels in earth's past is not made up it is science. It shows that temperatures have been much higher than they are today at lower levels of CO2 (back in the permian and also during the time of the dinosaurs). This suggests that climate change particularly temperature is regulated by other factors. The IPCC's propoganda is that CO2 and methane are what are causing climate change at the moment. This is not only rather simplistic it is simply not true.
@DHryder: I am aware of how the global warming (since renamed to Climate Change) model works. What I have been trying to get across is IF this model were accurate then you could go back in time and verify it.
@SintraFreeride: again, what you fail to understand is how bad it is to compare a co2 rise on a short scale (unit=year) and a co2 rise on a geological scale (unit=1000). A fast rise in temperature and co2 is unique. And temperatures are not comparable with before because the climate was different due to geographical factors ( the Gulf Stream for example didn't exist at this time).
@zede: So what you are saying is that this is the ONLY time in the planet's history that CO2 is causing temperature rise and you are claiming that is because a) the rate of rise not the level and b) geographical factors (presumably continental positions, etc). I find that be rather naive and very pick and chose what facts I want to use.
@zede: Are you for real? The problem is the oil companies!!! The burning of these fossil fuels is directly related to oil companies. I never defended the oil companies, nor did they hire consultants to 'distract' me. It's ignorant people like you who think that this period of warming is a natural cycle that make me lose faith in humanity. The one source of information that you seem to be drawing from is a website that screams false information. You're trying to tell me that four guys in their garage at home know more about the science behind global warming than hundreds of thousands of legit scientists around the world?! That's absurd. The precambrian era began with the earth's creation..ie two massive rocks colliding in space. Of course the concentrations of CO2 in the atmosphere were catastrophically high, and the earth was uninhabitable. But ever since then CO2 concentrations have declined, until the industrial revolution when they again skyrocketed.
@SintraFreeride: your reasoning is like : "1000 years ago someone got his hand cut and died so hands are required to live and in 2016 you will die if you lose one hand" It's completely dumb because it's assuming that the only factor involved in survival is the one you chose to focus on. Anyway, it's not worth arguing with someone that says:" the only proof I would accept is a graph that shows the evolution on 150years scale of the temperature when the dinosaurs started producing co2 " Man I'm sorry but this will never happen as 1)dinosaurs were not polluting anything 2) the co2 measurements that estimates levels 1000000y ago are not the same as the one we use to estimate co2 level in 2014
@zede: You have failed to understand (again) what I'm trying to say. Yes we are burning fossil fuels and thus more CO2 is going into the atmosphere. In science you need to find correlations and then prove them. The IPCC likes to say they have found a correlation between CO2 and temperature but rarely show graphs extending beyond 1 million years in the past. I think global temperature is affected by several factors which we still don't completely understand. These should be investigated further. Now why they have been pumping out this propaganda is beyond me. In my opinion it takes away attention from other important environmental problems which is just like shooting yourself in the foot. For the record I am not in favour of continuing to use fossil fuels as they cause a lot of environmental damage as well as pollution (not CO2). I do not support SHELL, BP or any other company of the sort. Heck I don't even own a car!
and then deciding whether or not CO2 is a greenhouse gas or not.
