Muddy Waters: iXS European Downhill Cup 5, Leogang - Seeding Photo Epic and Video
Today was seeding time at the final round of the iXS European DH Cup in Leogang. After a great first practice on Friday, the rain started pouring overnight and changed course conditions rapidly.
In the elite men's category it was the Italian rider Loris Revelli went fastest. He channeled the mud like no other and took the win by 1.084 seconds in front of Lutz Weber and Ondrej Stephanek. Jure Zabjek seemed to have some major issues up top but slowly started to build up speed during his run, which put him into 7th.
Eleonora Farina came out swinging crossing the line in first followed by Sandra Ruebesam and Monika Hrastnik. Still, it was Vali Hoell, the young Austrian who rode the fastest time of all the female riders on course.
Dropping into the unknown as the conditions changed from sun to pouring rain.
Rain all day long made for some interesting conditions.
With all the mud it was hard to slow down but this did not seem to bother German rider Sandra Ruebesam.
Silas Grandy showed some serious BMX skills.
The top section was heavily affected by today's rain.
Jules Picod looked great in the rain taking first place in the U17 male category.
Frank Hedwig learned it the hard way but put it all together when it counted and finished 2nd in the master's category.
Willi Luetzeler won the masters qualifying but has some serious competition for Sunday's finals.
Vali Hoell once again showed her massive talent, setting the fastest time of the whole women's field.
Alessia Missiaggia is the only rider in the U19 female category.
Luca Henzi went fastest in the U19 male category and is looking for his first EDC win.
Janosch Klaus struggled in the top section but made up some time to finish in second.
Monika Hrastnik crashed out in her seeding but still managed to finish third.
Unfortunalety Lea Rutz was not able to finish her seeding but will have another shot tomorrow.
Sandra Ruebsam came in second and will have to push hard if she wants to repeat her win from Spicak.
Eleonora Farina took the win, more than five seconds in front of Sandra Ruebesam.
Rudi Pintar took home third place in the U19 male category.
The mud stuck to the tires like glue, slowing down the riders massively.
Andreas Kolb was today's fastest Austrian crossing the line in 8th.
Guess who was not bothered by the rain.
Jure Zabjek must have had some issues up top but started to build up speed during his run.
2.6 seconds back, Joshua Barth, finished in 4th.
Boris Tetzlaff secured himself a spot in the super final by taking 9th place.
Stanislav Sehnal finished in 5th just 2.797 seconds back.
Miran Vauh looked confident all day and came in 10th.
Markus Pekoll was a bit off the pace today but as a protected rider he will be in tomorrow's super final.
With his bike lost somewhere between Cairns and Leogang Noel Niderberger had to build a new bike with some spare parts. Still, he managed to finish in 5th place.
Even though it was quite a miserable day on the mountain the view did not disappoint.
Place 12 for number 12, Adam Rojcek.
Zigar Pandur qualified in 13th.
Ondrek Stepahnek sending it into the last steep section and straight into 3rd.
Lutz Weber had a strong run, finishing in second. It should give him some confidence for finals.
Loris Revelli went fastest today and will be the last man on the hill on race day.
Rastislav Baranek did not have the day he was hoping for but is keen to send it tomorrow.
