Muddy Waters: iXS European Downhill Cup 5, Leogang - Seeding Photo Epic and Video

Today was seeding time at the final round of the iXS European DH Cup in Leogang. After a great first practice on Friday, the rain started pouring overnight and changed course conditions rapidly.

In the elite men's category it was the Italian rider Loris Revelli went fastest. He channeled the mud like no other and took the win by 1.084 seconds in front of Lutz Weber and Ondrej Stephanek. Jure Zabjek seemed to have some major issues up top but slowly started to build up speed during his run, which put him into 7th.

Eleonora Farina came out swinging crossing the line in first followed by Sandra Ruebesam and Monika Hrastnik. Still, it was Vali Hoell, the young Austrian who rode the fastest time of all the female riders on course.

With all the mud it was hard to slow down but this did not seem to bother German rider Sandra Ruebesam.

Jules Picod looked great in the rain taking first place in the U17 male category.

Frank Hedwig learned it the hard way but put it all togehter when it counted and finished 2nd in the masters category.

Janosch Klaus strugggled in the top section but made up some time to finish in second.

Sandra Ruebsam came in second and will have to push hard if she wants to repeat her win from Spicak.

Markus Pekoll was a bit off the pace today but as a protected rider he will be in tomorrow s super final.

With his bike lost somewhere between Cairns and Leogang Noel Niderberger had to build a new bike with some spare parts. Still he maneged to finish in fifth place.

 Best part of this video was seeing all of the many & well placed pads wrapped around the trees. It may seem like a small thing but well do to the race crew looking out for all the riders and their safety!

 the course was a real test..with all be peanut butter. Then Niderberger.! still places 5th on a bike he built with spare parts!

 What's that rear shock mounted to? Is it just mounted into the link? Looks wonky to me. Can we get some armchair engineers in here pls

 The shock is mounted to the rear triangle and the link. The Link gets mounted inside the main frame opening for the shock. Looks like that link might be able to rotate a bit around the screw on the main frame opening. There are two of these screws so you can mount the link in two positions to change the geometry of the bike.
