Fall fat biking in Ontario

Bracebridge Ontario, the heart of Muskoka, is in the process of developing a Recreation, Parks and Trails Master plan; a comprehensive, multi-year framework which provides a vision and guiding principles for the future of our recreation, parks and trails systems and services.

The Master Plan will guide future decision making and municipal investment in recreation, parks, and trail services, programs and facilities over the course of the next 15 years.

Do you ride here? Cottage in the area? Would you visit here to ride if there were more trails with more facilities?

Have a say in the future of trails here by filling out the online survey.

Yes 100% I grew up in Huntsville about 10 min up the road from Bracebridge, and I still love riding there on weekends. There are excellent trails at Buckwallow, and procupine ridge and some decent local zones. There is killer terran and lots of off the radar trails to ride. I would love to have some more trails to rip while at home visiting the family.

 You must drive fast. Smile

Needs to happen, the shield provides a different type of riding for us. The rocky and rooty terrain is a nice change from the smooth flat and often boring single track in most other riding zones like the Don, Hardwood, Albion Hill etc.

Couldn't agree more about the terrain, grew up there loved it, soooo much off the map to ride... Remember Chico race series over at Buckwallow in the late 90's was a blast before they had the network they've got now (Keep it up Mike!)

Aside:
I think you ought to ride the don more if "flat" or "boring" are words you're using to describe it or Albion and Hardwood are places you're comparing it to. Sure Crother's Woods, "The Ridge" and most stuff directly adjacent to the river are like highways, but the stuff up on the ravine walls or further north is pretty spectacular for being smack in the middle of a city.

@BlurredLines: It barely compares the muskoka area, It would be really cool if we could get an group together to see if Killarney could get some trails in there. The elevation would be nice on top of the technical terrain it offers already.

Check out the Parry Sound Trails being built too! Georgian Bay Nordic Ski Centre is doing some serious building up there. I think in the last two years they've built up about 4km of trails and they're still going strong. I got up a few times last year and its so fun.

i live in Hekkla now...(mostly.... google it) and am actively restoring some local , short trails... on crown land and on my own property. It is a challenge working alone. i would welcome any interest and funding of some trail building .... looking forward to meeting up and riding more local trails...

I will ride here for sure! Put in a multi-rated trail network for all skill levels and people will be flocking up here to ride everyday!!! Sure Buckwallow is great but to have even more trails offered in this area will be killer tup

Would definitely vacation more in Muskoka - Bracebridge area with a better/modern trail network. The terrain in the area is some of the most challenging in Ontario. Build it and we will come!

How awesome would it be if Mountain Bikers got permission to build some trails in Killarney. Riding on those white rock hills would be so much fun! I wonder how much of a stretch that actually would be

The town of Killarney is small and I doubt if there's any mountain bikers of any significance to sustain a trail. Killarney provincial park does not allow mountain biking on their trail systems. It would be great if they did. I've mountain biked into the Collins inlet area on a couple occasions using snow mobile trails.

No. Just No. In the area, outside of the park? Sure. But opening up the park to mountain biking would drastically change what Killarney is. Killarney is something unique and special and it should stay that way. I'm still pretty pissed about them putting in hydro and trailer sites, George Lake campground used to be as quiet and peaceful as anywhere interior in the park.

I think it's and excellent idea for brace bridge. My family has a cottage in the area. And if it wasn't for buck wallow I would of never started mountain biking.
