REVEL IN THE CHAOS
A NEW FILM BY
BRANDON SEMENUK & RUPERT WALKER

Revel In The Chaos is a darkly cinematic reinvention of the typical mountain bike movie. No timelapse filler shots, no globetrotting helicopter pageantry, no gratuitous 'may as well have been a still photo' slow mo. Revel Co is the brainchild of Brandon Semenuk, reigning FMB World Champion, and Rupert Walker, a true auteur filmmaker. It's not an exaggeration to say this movie features the best freestyle riding ever done on a mountain bike. One rider, one filmmaker, one vision: the next level. Revel In The Chaos premieres August, 2015.

yes life behind bars is by far the best day in a life series that could possibly exist to biking

Where can I watch or find Life behind bars?
  • 2 0
 redbull tv or redbulls youtube
  • 2 1
I read somewhere on red bull bike that he used life behind bars to promote rad company, and that just came out, sooo....
  • 1 0
Of course thats how marketing works then the tiny detail that it was a pretty good show is not important to them. But its not like he won't do any more filming projects or that he will need some marketing for what ever.
  • 1 0
I think semenuk started life behind bars before he started rad company but if that is the case he should use it to promote chaos with life behind bars to
  • 1 0
But wasn't rad company connected with red bull somehow? don't think chaos has that connection with red bull
  • 1 0
Life behind bars was film in one years, the 3 seasons, during the years they filmed the movie, and they do the montage in 2 years.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH We love this kid, as we often tell him "we are fine if you just want to make sick videos for a living!"
So rad.

 1. This movie looks awesome, dude has skills, power wheelies, step down to manual over roller, and fire everywhere...say what?!?
2. @troyleedesigns You do a hell of a good job making a presence and showing your athletes support. If I start racing I will be calling you for a kit.
  • 13 1
One can easily judge biased by those loud Semenuk haters. Stop it. Rad and versatile rider for sure!
  • 25 3
 So rad. company
  • 9 3
TLD: that is truly great of you guys, comps never show the true abilities of the top I Would much rather watch a video of all the red bull rampage riders landing their sickest tricks than watch the comp. too bad the industry is so determined to always rank the riders.

Great for the athlete, but videos are better for viewers! Maybe you just need to hang banners in the background of the videos!
  • 1 1
TLD: It would seem like most of these guys are capable of both! Injuries are of course always an issue with increased competition + film time, but by and large most seem to get it done and come out the other end. Happy with this industry.

Warning: After watching this you will develop the severe fixation to go outside build a jump over your fire pit. In the event you do not make it be sure to fallow these steps... 1: Remove bike from fire. 2: Only when your sure that the bike has been removed from the fire than proceed to remove yourself from the fire.
  • 16 0
Proceed to stop, drop and roll your bike across the ground until flames are extinguished.

Didn't everyone build fire pit jumps as kids? I'm surprised we never burned the woods down.

I built a gap jump in my yard years ago, hosed it with lighter fluid, and did flaming gap jumps for the neighborhood kids. They thought it was cool. My wife...not so much.

another slow-mo film by brandon semenuk. I know I am going to get negpropped, I bet it has some awesome riding, but the whole trailer was on slowmo. I bought rad company and it was not entretaining to watch. Semenuk is the best rider in the world, but his movies could be a little more fast paced
  • 68 7
Awsnap let's talk about this. So first off, there were actually a pretty big handful of non slow mo clips in that trailer. I'd say the balance was good.

Second, let's talk this point: Why slow mo? Like other film cues, slow mo evokes certain feelings, I personally don't mind it when it's done tastefully. No nobody wants to watch a berm get ripped in slowmo, but to catch that whip in slowmo and watch how contorted his body is to actually pin the bike out that far sideways? That was cool.

Third, let's talk about Brandon himself and why he chooses to work so much with Rupert (the filmmaker): I've noticed this recently. Brandon is a creative kid, like it or not. Think creative-artsy-fartsy who is still discovering that side of himself through biking. He's been picking up 35mm film cameras lately, and tinkers around with his film crews gear all the time. I think when Brandon is over the hill with biking, he's going to drift into film production. So you have this kid who undeniably enjoys art/film/photography, and this filmmaker Rupert who seems to really spin the art section of biking very well. Chances are they're gonna enjoy working together on this shit.

Last: Brandon is a professional mountain biker, he bikes more then you and I ever will combined. You probably ride on weekends. He rides 7 days a week. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say he loves mountain biking more then you do. He's contributed more to the scene then you and I have. So someone who eats sleeps breathes mountain biking can appreciate a nice bit of slow mo here and there, but a couple kids who casually ride on weekends can't ? Who's to say it's right or wrong? Nobody, but his and Ruperts choices have more merit then anything we have to say on the matter.

Plus, you can ALWAYS go pick up a camera and start filming yourself, and make mountain bike movies the way you want to make them. You might actually get decent enough at shooting and editing to start scoring shoots with talent like Brandon. It's always those who have nothing to show for their art that are critical of the art of others.
  • 11 2
@anchoricex- Well said. People whine and complain so much about Brandon and I do not get it. Everything you said was dead on balls accurate.
  • 12 4
Everyone's entitled to an opinion, I'd hardly say @JoseBravo was whining. Just because his opinion doesnt match yours, and it goes against your clear love for Brandon, doesnt mean he needs a well presented, multiparagraph argument. Bruh
  • 10 3
I like Brandon, I consider him the best rider in the world (he is very talented and has put a lot of effort into that) and for sure he has done a lot for the sport. I'm just saying that Rad Company let me down because it was all shot in slow-mo and by the looks of the trailer this one will have a lot of slow-mo too. I prefer fast paced movies, but that's just my taste, semenuk and walker do what they consider as best for them. I'm just saying as a person who "consumes" bike movies what my preferences are so I can buy their work
  • 1 4
@JoseBravo I guess I shouldn't have implied your comment was whining. I hate seeing people say negative things about the movies we get in this sport. I liked Rad Company a lot but one thing I have learned about film making is it has really become about the art of the rider/filmmaker. Film has advanced since the NWD days and the use of Cable cams, drones and Gopros along with the increase in resolution. One of the things Anchoricex hit on that I agree with is that the use of slo mo does often show how truly complex a trick is. The position of the rider over the bike or what not. I love seeing fast, furious and less slo mo myself but when I see how the trick is set up it makes me look at the rider and say "holy effin Shit, how did he do that" Coastal Crew videos do exactly that for me. Those guy's ride and film as much for the love of film as they do for the riding. Oh and Norbs all day baby!!!!
  • 6 0
@JoseBravo Have you ever watched one of Rup's videos?
  • 5 1
I have watched his videos, but not knowing he was the one filming. Maybe I was just scared of the film being all in slow mo. if rebel in the chaos is similar to the video of tom van steenbergen on whitler made by rupert walker I will buy it happily. Also this is just a trailer... we are pretty much speculating what the movie will be like.
  • 2 0
 In the "Behind The Lens - Rupert Walker" he says;

"When I watch my favourite movies outside of mtb that inspire me, very rarely will there be slow motion. 24fps is my favourite frame rate and all of my favourite films have been shot in that format."

So I'd expect this to be a lot more like the RAW 100 ( www.pinkbike.com/video/402811 ) that Revel co. have already done.

This is what I'm talking about

semenuk riding style is so good and with that sort of cinematography it is just going to be displayed in such a surreal way

Red Bull you should make a series alike "life behind bars" but with A. @Lacondeguy and friends....it should be Epic and loads more fun...Semenuk is a great rider, has tones of tricks and balls, but when it takes the helmet off he just looks boring (his probably a nice guy but...).
What people want is Tricks, Balls and mayhem

Please dont fill me off negative props im just giving my opinion..
  • 1 0
The comments on here seem to miss the point of the whole thread, i mean i couldnt b arsed to read the whole thing it was getting to in depth withtheins and outs of who knows what or not. But for me the vid was sweet, brandon is an awesome flawlessly smooth rider and i too love and sorely miss life behind bars, Redbull dropped the ball by letting this series go.

this trick on a dh bike is a whole different story..
  • 3 1
Overload of steaz every time semenuk makes a movie cant wait for this one to come out on bluray still love rad company as well
  • 8 7
Sure it'll be a great film, how can it not be with semenuk on a bike in it. But I am not sure what the collective orgasm going on in these comments is all about, the trailer is not all that special
  • 3 0
I love Ruperts filming style. And with Semenuk as the subject to focus on, this is going to be a Rad video
  • 6 3
STOOKKEEEDDD So glad Semenuk has been getting more into filming lately
  • 4 1
The levels of stoke are high with this one! Song?

B-Dog..............I don't care how many times he's won, don't care who doesn't like him, Semenuks a bad mo fo....such a sick rider. Kick some ass B-Dog!
  • 3 1
i wish the first 45 seconds of a 1:15 second teaser wasn't just an intro showing how well he can walk
  • 1 3
He actually looks a little bow legged to me. Probably to accommodate his massive balls.
  • 3 2
That was awesome. However, 'chaos' is a strong word to use when describing dirt jumping, probably the most manicured and calculated mountain biking niche.
  • 3 0
We are lucky to have such good and creative film makers in the MTB world!
  • 2 3
Semanuk is great , however, in the first trailer they said he might have to kill and now apparently he is a pyromaniac. Maybe next he can run over some puppies and kittens or perhaps bunny hop over disabled people. Maybe tail whip a Panda. I also thought it was kinda rude how he slammed that door. Still will watch the movie
  • 1 0
Huh... Watching this again, some of the shots make me think of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

*Shouting off in distance* "Neeeeeeeeeeeeeeerd!"

I have finals in 8 hours and I really need to be sleeping but DAMN this was sickkkk
  • 10 11
No offense but, I've haven't seen anyhing in this trailer, is it """only""" semenuk doing stuff with different scenery? Or will we see other riders? Ok Semenuk is amazing but it's not the riding I prefer...
  • 1 1
What do you want? This film is about Semenuk, not anyone else. This isn't just "Semenuk doing stuff with different scenery", Its a completely different approach to a mountain biking film, with a different mood and feel to everything.
  • 4 2
No gratuitous slowmo...first clip is slowmo lol.
  • 3 1
Semenuk is the most stylish guy in the game. Stop.
  • 3 2
Who doesn't love Brandon Semenuk. Such an awesome, humble and truly inspiring young man.
  • 2 2
I don't need berms to be set on fire to enjoy a mountain biking film. Give us fast riders on fast tracks without slow-mo along to some banging tunes. Ideal!
  • 3 1
1:15 seconds of trailer, and I count 22 seconds of actual riding.
  • 3 2
I've watched this about 30 times now and i can't get over how amazing it is! can't wait for the movie
  • 2 0
In my opinion Brandon Semenuk is the best overall mtb rider in the world
