Well first there was the 'Flippity Whippity', then there was the 'Twister McSender', closely followed by the 'Lay the goddamn table' all finished off with the 'Fall over backwards, but SURPRISE I'm still riding'. Hope that clears things up.
This is a jump setup that doesn't really make sense as it just seems like there is lips to nowhere and landings without jumps leading to them. Really innovative setup, concept and edit!
I really hope they made/make a "behind the scenes" for this edit. I'm scratching my head trying to figure out how some of the features/moves could have been practiced before taking it to dirt. Like into an airbag or foampit or something? They're just so unconventional, and amazing. Way to go Macduff!
YES! I used to be glued to the FMB scene, but to be honest, it's getting a bit dull (maybe because Semenuk stepped down). Big jump after big jump after big jump. Now it's about who can cram in one more barspin or tailwhip. I know these tricks are insanely hard, but come on...
@nhlevi: I was starting to think that at the start of last year, but the last few events have seen a lot of riders really adding a lot of style to their runs and the judges rewarding it. Feels like some balance has been restored after the years of battle between the robotically precise Semenuk/Rheeder VS the just-one-more-twist Rogatkin. As much as I love those riders, some new talent bringing some flare has brought back the excitement for me
From what I have read on this site, that bike is unridable. No rear suspension or 29 inch wheels. Doesn't even have a dropper post. Too steep in the front and too slack for the seat tube.
@phops: Are you saying that mountain bike are no better than they were 10 years ago? Because if so you are delusional. BMX has stayed largely the same because thats the entire point of the sport. MTB has evolved so much more to the point where its almost a completely different sport to what it used to be.
Money might run the sport to an extent but you can't say the advances in technology are pointless because they do actually improve the bikes.
BMX has evolved in terms of quality components (for example, Cabon BMX race bikes are common now), but nobody has arguments about wheel size, geometry, suspension linkages, e.t.c and so on.
Mountain bike sport has evolved, but if it had the same character of riders that bmx does, we would have 2 categories of bikes at the top level - lightweight xc trail bikes, and pure dh smashers.
I just realized that I've been sitting around complaining that my back hurts. McDuff drops an edit, on a course that he built, with lines that blow minds, and tricks that no one can do. Then I remember how he was dead, broken, and never "should" have been able to ride again.
I'm betting you haven't also been able to dedicate massive amounts of time to rehabilitation and strength training. Just shows you probably can make that back feel better with enough work put in.
Holly Shit Matt, I clicked play and expected some stoke and some laughs with some crazy ideas and good riding because that is what I have come to expect from your much loved edits. I was absolutely blown away with this edit and your progressive riding. Truly amazing! Congratulations.
Holy shit that was good. Why did I just think of Macduff as a full send huck or die monster? These technical slope style chops blew me away. FKNA Matt!
@coadymacmillan: now i'm no answer police, but that sure didn't seem like one. but the answer is a lot of riders, if you want one, semenuk, but i haven't seen anyone do one backwards.
@coadymacmillan: oh yea sure lots of flat drop backflips have been done but ive never seen a fakie backflip and couldn't find one in bmx or mtb so i think its a first
Watching it and thinking- "hmm- Matt must not know how action sports videos are made. You save the banger till the end." Turns out he does... all bangers and mind blowing indeed. The fakie to flip was so cool. Matt is one of those guys that just seems awesome and like you'd want him to succeed and be around even if he didn't make videos like this...but so much cooler he is that guy AND makes videos like this. Thank you sir.
That course was nuts! A quarter pipe in a slope style run? Nice! Friggin flair to backwards backflip off the drop was NUTS!!! Loved the second camera angle on that one!
Wow! And here I was, thinking MacDuff had switched over to big bikes and Fest type stuff. Well, he might be doing that as well but he clearly hasn't been neglecting the dirt jump bike! Amazing edit!
sick to see one of the best in the world doing it on a norco hardtail. those were my dream bikes when the scene really took off around 2001, and always wanted to see a top rider killing it on a norco DJ, the original bikes that started this.
Wow! Just wow Matt. I’ve been watching your edits and crashes for years and this is beautiful. The skills , precision and the “ what the hell?” tricks you pulled are both impressive and mind blowing to say the least. Well done and keep up the progression. ????
Holy $hitballs! It's a given Matt is one of THE most talented riders out there, but the cinematography puts his insane "park sesh" on another level. You never lose sight of his silver frame/red forked bike in the shadowy background. Out-flippin-standing.
Wow, very creative course and athleticism. Was thinking hope I did not blow out the back of that elevated quarter pipe, and then started talking to myself after the backflip.
Sick camera angles as well. One of the best edits this year. Keep it up and thanks for the enjoyment.
Great riding and love the creativity. He needs to build a course for crankworx. Just let him go crazy and don't let the competitors get there early. That would be a contest.
Life and death. Space and time. Fate and chance. These are the forces of the universe. From the furthest corners of the world, where the dark arts still hold sway.. Nature’s laws may be bent.

Great, now i need an ozzyman narration for this video!
And/or adjust the rules so at least one trick per run has to be a non combo so we get to see simple tricks with as much steeze as possible.
Thats what happens when skills runs the sport, not money.

You re all welcome !
Thank you Matt for becoming such a good positive person.
“I am proud to introduce Title” (whatever that is) -Matt Macduff

video keeps going
"... oooh I see!"
I think the open loop needs to become a staple slopestyle course feature; it's mesmerizing to watch.
That edit was as mind bending as an Escher.
where else do you find Slopes other than mountains?
