Canadian National Championships - Full Weekend Recap

This past weekend was the 2010 Canadian National Championships here in BC. After a long drive and a killer weekend, it's time for the Canada Cup.

Story inside,We departed North Vancouver at about 8am Thursday morning to head to Panorama for the 2010 Canadian national championship downhill race. The drive was long and boring so we decided to make a few fun stops on the way like stoping in Kamloops to do a little bit of riding. After about 9 hours of driving we finally arrived to a huge condo with other Devinci riders from team Silent-Devinci.


The condo was in a prominent location based at the bottom of the course. Everything we needed was within about 5 minutes away. After settiling in we decied to all head out and do a course walk prior to the practice in the morning. The course was looking dusty, loose and fast.


We entered Friday practice ready to shred the course, get our lines, and get ready for our saturday seeding runs. The course featured many suprises like the rock garden and Cliffs of Insanity. Racers were finding the fastest lines that could work for them.







On Saturday we headed into the seeding runs which were going to determine the order of racers for the Sunday race day. With the weather forcast calling for thunder storms, it was hard to believe by looking at the weather. It began to start light showers which brought down the dust. In pro men Dean Tennant (Dunbar) laid down the fastest seeding run with a 3:28. Micayla Gatto put down a solid 4:02 in pro women. Kelsey Begg took Junior women’s fastest qualying time, and Remi Gauvin (PerformX/Evil) in Junior men had the second fastest time on the hill with a 3:31, he was pinned!






We entered into the final race day with high confidence from the team yet knowing that they're are many fast racers here at the event. In the end it was the following racers that came out on top..
