After two great years working with Race Face, Norco Factory Racing will go into 2017 without them. Below is what they had to say:

“First, we would like to thank Race Face for all their support in 2015–2016. They have been an amazing group of people to work with, who’ve supported our team from its start in 2015. With some of the top MTB products out there, we have reached many milestones due to their support. We wish everyone at Race Face all the best for 2017 and beyond. See you on the trails!” - Norco Factory Racing

Have had at least one RaceFace component at all times since day one (which is 1988 for me or whenever their biz started, whichever was first). Heelie Pops for everyone!

Raceface rules unless it comes to their customer service. Great products, absolutely miserable customer service

You must not be doing it right. The shop has had amazing service from them.

@whattheheel: now all they need is a b2b site...
  • 2 0
That would not suck but when else would I get to bug clapforcanadaa?? Guy is a legend.
  • 3 0
@j-t-g: The have a b2b, just not for @whattheheel . PM me yoru shop details and I'll get you set up.

It's because I am dead sexy ain't it?? Discrimination!!!

I often wonder why companies that partner with each other part ways. It's easier to see why athletes go from one company to another but I'm always curious as to what lead 2 companies to part ways.

Especially when they make nice videos and write a nice thank you and good bye note.

Maybe that's just me?

@banffowen: Yup... watch the stems and bars and cranks spec'd on Norcos disappear.
  • 3 0
@gtrguy: like Marty Mcfly's body in Back to the Future. You'll be riding and then faaaaade. . .
  • 1 0
looks like they getting whole package of sram , probably cheaper than fox/raceface combo
  • 1 1
@banffowen: Ahhh yeah~ Pinkbike insiders know all the details Smile
  • 5 1
@LiquidSpin: well, Norco is the Canadian distributor and service center for all things SRAM. Norco/Live to Play easily has enough product to have their factory team exclusively on things they distribute already. Makes sense.

@j-t-g: Thanks for the info~ Definitely makes sense now Smile

From as far back as I can remember in my relationship with Freeride I wanted a norco bike w race face components. So in like 2003 I had a bright yellow norco buzz w RF pedals and bar... it was pure sex.
  • 2 0
I remember the Buzz! Man I wanted one of them. But then again, I wanted every bike back then.
  • 3 0
VPS series bikes with race face cranks, stuff dreams where made of.

Thanks for the nice goodbye!! It has been an honor and pleasure supporting the Norco Factory Racing program for the past 2 years. Best of luck to NFR in 2017!!

Hopefully that means no more Formula brakes for the team as well. Assuming they are partnering up with a larger company like SRAM or Shimano.
  • 7 1
I support Norco, great Canadian company. Every one I ever owned went above, and beyond, and every second person owns one.

 Meh mediocre bikes for years.

Norco should bring back Axiom components, they had some really good things like seats back in the day.

Cdn company, stay with cdn Cromag maybe?
  • 4 3
So let me get this straight. If you go down hill on a DH bike then you wear a full face lid but if you go down hill on an enduro bike then you wear a little brainpan lid? Anybody else notice this trend? Is your head more valuable on a DH ride than an enduro ride? Or maybe...Downhill riders are just smarter when they're on DH bikes?.... or some kind of a weird dumb down happens when you start to ride something smaller than and 8" travel bike? I don't know. Man.... I guess I'll just pick a helmet and " be a dick about it".
  • 1 1
Sam didn't send anything as big or gnarly with the cool (temp wise) easy to breathe bucket on.
  • 6 1
The second trail they were riding (Flying Nun, Chch NZ) is much less steep than the first (Rude Rock, Queenstown NZ) and is easily manageable on just an XC rig if you're careful. You can pick some biggish lines on it if you want but they are two very different trails. Plus, it's a bit of a pedal up to the start of Flying Nun, where as Rude Rock is a shuttle trail.

Sure, you could choose to wear your full face on Flying Nun for extra protection, but I'm sure these guys know the trails, the hazards they present and their own abilities well enough to decide for themselves.

IMHO :-)

The people that thumb you down are pathetic posers - well put bro - its fricking stupid not to wear an adequate helmet these days - if you're going to go as hard and fast as a DH bike you should be wearing a full face - perty simple logic there...
  • 1 0
@saint4life: I'm all about adequate helmets, The Bell he is wearing is so protective to the most important parts of the head. Full face is great for protecting your face and jaw, but in a catastrophic crash neither willl stop a brain injury. Know your limit and ride within it.
  • 1 0
@Yarlezy: Accidents happen. We all know our limits and we all push them each time we ride. That's the kick we get out of it. That's how we learn and become better riders. It just surprises me to see guys and gals out there pushing those limits and not paying attention to the possible consequences. Each to his own. For me, I ride a full face helmet. I'm not the brightest bulb in the pack but I don't want to wreck my face and add ugly to the equation! Ride hard and be safe guys!

Raceface is too good for Norco - the OEM structure that bike companies look at is all about how big their lineup is and if at all what types of OEM to stick with or what they can afford. Nor I tried to do it all so they'll thin their stock bikes out with cheaper parts - it's definitely a bad move from the real mountain biker opinion. Looks like Rocky Mountain will be one of the only true mountain bike OEMs you'll find on the market now - they look better on their frames anyways..

Too bad, seeing how their offices are literally on the same block. Oh well, I guess now we have more to look forward to from Norco, adding new sponsor onto that prototype we saw earlier this year...

Now the awkwardness of the commute past the other's building. That, and who gets custody of the dog.

 errrrr... no they're not.
  • 1 0
@Sky-hi: My bad, I don't actually know the exact location, I've just met a few employees riding in the area and they said the office is ____ and the locations they gave seemed close together... They are both in Burnaby though right?
  • 1 0
@Lookinforit: Nope. Norco is in Port Coquitlam.
