Video: Off Piste Shreds with Joel Anderson and Rach Wight

Jan 12, 2022
by Tom Caldwell

Join Rachael Wight and Joel Anderson as they hit up some off piste Forest of Dean tracks aboard their fresh Stumpjumper EVO Alloy rigs.

Plunging into caves, riding ancient rock slabs and railing autumnal turns. Oh, and a coffee at the bike shop to warm up frozen hands. Good fun and good vibes.

Joel sliding round the off camber turn into a rocky chute, and then briefly not being able to see anything until he see's the light at the end of the tunnel.

How dare they make aluminum bikes look fun. Everyone knows they would be having way more fun on carbon bikes.

having fun with the carbon version until your downtube is cracking because its too thin

@funkzander: To each their own. But that extra $1000 to spend on other stuff and the "i don't care mindset" when a rock strikes the downtube... that's for me.

Riding through that rock tunnel looks like so much fun.

Doesn't "piste" mean "a ski run of compacted snow?" Therefore, isn't virtually all mountain biking off-piste?

Judging by the downvotes it seems off-piste means "not mapped" or "not sanctioned" in the Old Country? I like learning new things!

Don't recognise these trails, I assume they're around Dowie's somewhere?

Not going to put off piste locations on the www, but Its massively edited and jumbled up. You see them ride the end of one trail and then later after the cafe stop they’re back on the same trail but further up. Then it skips to somewhere 2-3 miles away. and then somewhere else
The only trail I don’t recognise is the cave.

I can say the opening scene is Cannop, because thats a sanctioned official trail. Its half way down “Y2K” and is on trailforks.
