Escaping to the Portuguese Sunshine

Deciding to escape the Norwegian winter in January, and trade it for some much-needed sun and dry trails in the bank was a no-brainer for me. Knowing that I would spend the time in Portugal with the amazing people from WEIRDE meant that my stay there definitely would be worth it. I have spent one month in Portugal, riding around Lisbon, Sintra and Lousã. Digging, guiding, photographing and tasting the local food and wine. I have met the local riders and WERIDE staff, and it is safe to say it was a memorable stay.

Riding on the local trails in Monsanto. With a panoramic view over Lisboa from Monsanto, a restaurant that has been abandoned for 10 years.

On Sintra's White Stone, you will ride amongst big white boulders.

The Águas Livres Aqueduct is one of the most remarkable examples of the 18th-century Portuguese engineering.

Scouting for trails on the seaside.

The Schist village high in the mountains above Lousã

Riding the donkey trail in the sunset. A 5km single track down to the sea. Ending with a proper beer in the hand.

The Sanctuary of Christ the King is a Catholic monument and shrine dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ overlooking the city of Lisbon.

WERIDE boys getting it on. Outeiro Dirt Park is an official park voted by the people and maintained by the government.

Sunrise mission in Outeiro Dirt Park with Duarte and Diogo of WERIDE.

And then Emanuel Pombo showed up with his wings and made men fly...

Are these the trails that are on Trailforks....?
From the Trailforks data I suspected it would be just enough for one weekend, but not one month.

Anyway, from where I live it is a 6hrs flight...Frown

Thomas came and explored Sintra, Lisbon and Lousã. For each of these 3 spots you need at least one week... and that may be 3% of the trails WE have in Portugal! Book a flight and ride on cxfahrer
