Race Face Chainring - was 22.99$, now 44.99$ - hell of a deal.
  • 42 0
 Wonder if they'd do a deal - 2 for $120
  • 2 0
 30T is $22.99 -- clydesdale discount FTW!
  • 1 1
@km79: Or maybe just one for $120?
  • 3 0
@km79: Buy one for price of two and get the second one totally free

I'm just here for the Intense comments.

I’d be more active in the Intense comments but I’m a bit of a Recluse lately.
  • 6 0
9 months since the last Intense blowout and these deals are reborn
  • 3 0
It's time for the yearly "restructuring". You know how it goes. Sometimes things get fervent. No, vigorous. No, fanatical. Damn it! What's the word I am looking for???
  • 16 1
$800 for a 40 that doesn’t have real Kashima coating and no high speed compression lol
  • 3 0
Sounds cheap if it would be in the EU ????
  • 9 0
 It's not even a current Fox 40. That's from around 2010.
  • 1 3
@seismicninja: it's at least 2014+ because that's when those lowers came out. And 800 is reasonable considering what factory kashima 40s are worth
  • 5 1
@sweet-bike: I'm sorry but for the same price you can get the Fox 40 performance with a fit4 damper (New black stanchion). This is not even resonable at all.
  • 1 0
Coil is cool again, haven't you heard?
  • 16 1
823 for typical DT Swiss set ????
  • 6 1
Thought the exact same thing. Seems pretty outrageous.
  • 5 4
those rims retail for $240 cdn each. Rear hub isn't cheap and plus the wheel build.
  • 3 1
@ka81: We went off the Canadian MSRP for all the parts, and took 25% off... DT Swiss product are cheaper in Europe, which sucks for us, but it's just the way it is.
  • 1 2
@leon-forfar: how much will it be to order in BC with shipment to Can?
  • 3 2

You need to add shipping, do conversion, add spokes and labour, to do a real comparison.

Please keep in mind also that Dunbar prices are in Canadian, not US.

I think you'll find $823 is actually pretty competitive after you do the math, and not far off the cost of buying it all from Europe and having someone do the work locally.
  • 1 2
I recently got a chris king set with Stans Flow rims custom built for only a bit more than that...
  • 2 0
@Frank191: you got Chris King hubs, and flows, hand built and brand new for just a little more than 823 CAD, or 625 USD?!?!
  • 1 0
@privateer-wbc: sorry didn’t see the CAD part I was talking about USD.
  • 1 3
rims, hubs, spokes, nipples (all DT)
Subtotal 429.82€
Shipping cost to the delivery destination: Canada 39.95€
Total price 469.77€

So, about 710 CAD.
Plus labour.. Well, if you can't do it by yourself then how mush will it be (+-)? In my area for wheelset best tuners will charge about 40-50 euro.
Well, still not 823. And by the way, 823 - it's WITHOUT shipping to you, right?...

  • 3 1
@ka81: The best builders here charge closer to 150 CAD. But, I suppose you might not need the best?

And if you buy it all here, you get a warranty and support.

So, the price isn't too dissimilar, and there are benefits to buying domestically.
  • 1 3
 @privateer-wbc: 100 bucks for 2 wheel truing?? Damn.. )

Anyway, you are right, especially about warranty.
I was just noticing that all that online-deals are just pathetic.
  • 1 0
@ka81: Don't forget about how much you would be dinged with import duty, which is supposed to be charged off of full MSRP.
  • 2 0
@leon-forfar: not sure that is completely true. But buying local is certainly more predictable than being dinged by CBSA,as those guys don't always get it right - because things are shipped and not disclosed properly more often than not. All in all, the prices are good when you add it all up, and you get a warranty and service.
  • 1 0
@privateer-wbc: That is how it is supposed to work (regions import duties vary depending on a lot of variables like where it's coming from, what the part is etc), but, like you said, it doesn't always get charged correctly, or at all. Warranty and after sales care is a very important point a lot of people forget about.

Don't buy the Race Face dropper!!!!!!! I bought it and it never held pressure. They wouldn't work with me so I had to bring it to a shop. There I had to pay shipping to send it back to Race Face. Race Face told them if they can't fix it I'll be downgraded to a 150 mm version (from 175 mm). So to recap: it's been a month w/o a functioning dropper post, I had to pay more money because their product doesn't work, and I might get stuck with a version I don't want. NOT WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!
  • 6 1
God anyone who pays 800 for that 40 is really getting ripped off.
  • 4 3
