Thanks to all the returning sponsors Cycle Solutions, Commencal, Norco, Titec, Kenda, Want, Industry Skate Park and Impac. Welcome to a new sponsor POC Helmets and Armour, the new leader in MTB protection.2009 is sure to be a ripper with two huge new introductions:

1) Canada's first Super D race series. This timed event is a perfect mix of XC and DH racing, a little up and lots of down. It’s a great race for XC and DH competitors or for trail riders who love a flow filled ride. Come out and ride with your friends in the amateur class or press for the fastest time of the day in the open class. Medals and prizing for every Super D race, plus overall series points.

2) The Ontario/Quebec Challenge: a single event Interprovincial Championship Trophy will be awarded to the Province that wins the most DH categories (cadet, junior sport, senior expert etc), points will be awarded from 1st place (25pts) to 22nd place (1pt). The province with the most points in each category will win that category, the Province with the most categories wins the Championship Trophy! This is also a regular series points race for both provinces, so everyone will be grabbing points for their provincial overall series championship too!

is there anyway we can get the "ontario" DH cup championships kept in "ontario" this year? i know fortune is said to be a great course but more than half of the racers don't make it there simply cuz it is to far is there anyway we can make it stay in ontario?
  • 1 0
Ya if you go find a hill to race at lol.

we are working on an ontario location, however the overwhelming consensus is that camp fortune is the best choice, last year 188 riders attended the provincial championships, the average race ridership was about 208, so we had over 90% of the riders show up, quite good for late in the season when bikes and people tend to get broken Wink

POC makes good quality stuff for winter, and I am sure the bike stuff will be great too. But don't you think that a company getting into the mountain bike scene should have a REAL product section on their website...opposed to the PDF file that's been up since before Interbike.

Mr Appleton why don't you have races at Calabogie??? It's the best hill in ontario BY A LONG SHOT! For that matter I'd much rather race at Calabogie than Fortune.

I agree a race at Calabogie would be awesome. There used to be races there, why not anymore?

they're demands are too high...the money they want for one weekend is not feasible...they make more of weddings being hosted by the hill throughout the summer so in order to book there appropriate compensation is required

this topic usually pops up every year, and every year its the same answer, Thank you you "gloryhole"
but i do need to ask, is there still saturday practise for DH? or is it being replaced with the new super D
  • 2 0
There will still be practices, the super D will be held on a seperate run.
  • 0 0
there has to be saturday practise....its mandatory to do one run saturday now...i think at least...or that could be mandatory to do 2 and one can be done saturday...something like that...but yes they will never get rid of saturday practise that would be ridiculous...and "Bike-Person"...i know every time i read about ontario DH its the same question

the perfect Super D bike is a 4, 5 or 6" travel bike, however there will be people riding hardtails and full DH bikes as well.
other options like Joplin gravity dropper seat posts, lock out forks and rear shocks are great if you're pushin for the podium!

will there be separate classes for hardtails vs. full suspension?

-sorry if this has already been covered-

click the picture. don't be so lazy. do you want me to personally call you with the info?

I doubt that it is a price issue at Calabogie. I heard an entirely different and much more interesting story from a credible source.

who's your source....mines pretty good too
  • 0 1
I used to work at calabogie, so I know pretty much everyone involved. I even proposed setting up a race myself and got quite a positive response. Race promotion is not my kind of thing tho.
