Nicholai is the f*cking man for riding down after that fall of his in qualies. (Even threw a flip in there to boot...) Wish he would've made it further, it looked like he had an interesting line at the end of the course.
Also, he had a visor this time, maybe after that little slicer between his eyes he'll even have goggles next year!
For next year to ease everyones minds, I would love it if Red Bull stepped up with health insurance for all the riders.
The best contest ever keeps on chugging!
Yea the tricks keep progressing and the stakes get higher, which also means more people get injured. They really need to do something to reward the risk each rider takes.
You cannot compete without insurance. Its never up to the event's title sponsor to provide insurance, for any sport for any competition. Keep it on topic which in this case, is celebrating the riders for doing what they do. In the purest form, they're given an opportunity to push themselves and mtbing to new heights, putting their lives on the line in the process. It was another incredible event because of the creativity and massive balls of the riders and I hope a speedy recovery to T-Mac and Paul Bas and anyone else who may have been injured while riding.
No. It was still way shitty. Couldn't get it to play properly (sound and video sync issues, skipping, etc.) for over an hour. When I finally did I was booted off once the live stream ended even though I hadn't even gotten to the second runs. So no. We can't salute it this year.
I was using a ghost server at my school. I'm pretty sure I could download photoshop in a few minutes using their computers (engineering lab) and I still had issues with it skipping from "DVR" to live. And I was also booted once live feed ended
I am not there, but my friend is friends with Paul's girlfriend, she been told her that as of this morning, he does not have feeling in his feet and they are fearing possible paralyzation. So everyone may want to say a pray for a miraculous healing and recovery as this would be very sad.
And not a single article on him and his condition on pinkbike or even other websites... In my opinion this is scandalous, we don't care about the POV of Sorge or anything else, we want updates on Basagoitia's condition!
Or maybe Pinkbike is acting like a legitimate news outlet and is not going to report on something as serious as this until they have facts... Rather than reporting unsubstantiated accounts...
I would agree if incorrect information had not already been published. Pinkbike is not a legitimate news outlet, whether it likes it or not and publishing a correction on the word of a single source is just fine when the source is Cam Zink and he's publicly put his name on the information.
Pinkbike's response ended up being both timely and classy, however I stand by my comment at the time of its posting when other outlets were reporting their correction to the misinformation relayed during the broadcast and Pinkbike was not.
Most epic riding I have ever seen...I can't stop watching all the videos & if I had to judge they'd need a bigger f*cking podium b/c they all shredded that mountain. Congrats and thank you for one hell of a day!!
Props to all the many volunteers from parking, security, diggers, bike valet, etc. suckin down the moon dust so we can get ftomt row seat to the mad risks the pros throw down. Thx to the red bull girls for those free icy cold RBs. cheers to the Zion afterparty!!
Every one at rampage is a hero to me. this is the best week of the year and its all down to to the riders. could never realy explain how impressed I am every year they step it up. big thaks to the riders
It's like they're subliminally pushing their favorite rider into PB readers. Aggy is a sick rider for sure but there were more runs better than what he did. But whatever, Rampage is over.
I for one would like an update on all the injured riders, their injuries, their current medical condition and and donation pages they may have set up.
All the other sports have updates, I want the grit
Big up to all the riders and builders. Thanks for doing it all for the love of the sport and not much else. Thanks to Redbull for starting and continuing this event but many changes are needed at this point. In my opinion they are holding the event back at this point. Different rules, judging, and prize purses are the first steps.
I would love to see the fest series add a Utah location to their series.
Totally rad. There guys are an amazing inspiration. I watch them ride and it makes the 10 ft drop I'm working on look tiny. HUGE kudos for their efforts and Awesomeness.
Everyone. I don't know if this was appropriate to do or timely enough, but I have created a campaign to support Paul and the financial hardships this injury will place on himself and his family:
Please support a fellow rider and his journey back to health and to the bike. If you can share this, or have any suggestions how to make it more effective, please get in contact with me. Paul has been a source of inspiration for almost a decade and we can step up and help him through this.
I mean no disrespect to any of these riders, as they are doing incredible things on bikes, but are we pushing the limits too far with the evolution of Rampage? As much as I loved seeing this event and the brilliance of the riders, I was bloody terrified the whole time that someone would be SERIOUSLY hurt at the jumps and the lines these guys were taking. Every year the lines get bigger and bigger and with that, worse and more injuries. I really do think if its continues in this way someone is going to get killed. I've been watching "extreme" sports most of my life and it's hard to recall a mass event that is this insane. I know they are "professionals"," they know what they sign up for etc", but it seems like when they ask the riders what they want to accomplish from their runs they almost all say "make it down alive, in one piece etc". Is this event just too much??? I was showing some of the pics to co-workers who do not bike and they thought the pics were Photoshopped. "Yeah right, no one would jump/go down that". Is the "cost" not worth the "payout"?? Just my 2 cents worth.............Many prayers and positive thoughts to you Paul P. You are in the thoughts of many, heal soon,
Wish he would've made it further, it looked like he had an interesting line at the end of the course.
Also, he had a visor this time, maybe after that little slicer between his eyes he'll even have goggles next year!
"Paul Basagoitia is an actor, known for New World Disorder 10: Dust and Bones, NWD 9: Never Enough and Ultimate Rush."
An actor?? Dumbshits haha
Big ups to TGR for sharing that info, apparently Pinkbike prefers to stick to the rainbow road where nobody gets hurt and unicorns roam wild.
*healing vibes*

Paul Bas' vertebra
Nico Vink's ankle
Someone's arm... maybe Reynolds?
Basagoitia is currently paralyzed, maybe permanently. Every rider's worst nightmare. :-(
They use those tracks all the time in their edits
